Uh....there is a topic almost exactly like this made about 10 minutes ago. There have been like 5 in the past day. Please search the board before posting.Vuurk
That topic is about whether or not you believe in a God... :|
I just checked and the topic is still on the first page even....come on man....
It's titled Is Hell Real?
Please don't make duplicate topics if there is already one on the first page.

I believe heaven and hell to be real... I also believe gravity to be real. Your argument just failed.

No, there is also another topic about that too though. There is one specifically titled Is Hell Real? Please don't be so ignorant.
Look at my previous post. And also why post in here then? Your opinion is meaningless since you didn't post one. So just don't post in here. :|

Hang on you want us to talk about heaven and hell not in terms of belief but in terms of knowledge? How exactly do you expect that to happen, nobody knows anything particularly not about a supernatural place.
Do we really need another one?-Katsuri-um Yeah... I don't see anything wrong about them.
I find it interesting to hear everones opinions.

Oops my bad I got it backwards. Okay I don't believe in heaven or hell.
[QUOTE="harashawn"]
[QUOTE="FamiBox"]No.
I also don't believe in fairies.

Are you comparing religion to a mythological creature? That is just wrong on so many levels.
It's not wrong. There's no difference.
There is a difference. There are rational reasons to believe in Heaven/Hell. Fairies, Santa Clause and the rest...not so much.

There are no "rational" reasons to believe in heaven/hell what so ever.

OT will spontaneously combust if one isn't made every 10 minutes.

Heh, yeah I was about to say, 'Damn domatron, where'd you get that logic from?' :P
Anyway, I don't believe in heaven or hell.
Yes there is a heaven and hell
Everyone should know that.
DarkSmokeNinja
Oh, but of course! I mean, it's so obvious that heaven and hell are real. :roll:

a belief is not knowledge. you do not only believe it to be true, but it explains why everything is not floating around you. you witness it to be true, because when you drop something it falls back to the earth. so there is physical evidence, as in you can use your senses to see the apple fall to the earth. therefore, you are taught it in school, and it is commonly accepted. so no you dont believe in gravity. you KNOW gravity exists. whereas heaven and hell, can only be believed in. one cannot accumulate evidence that in fact heaven does exist, through testing or seeing it or proving it mathematically. heaven and hell are concepts, or places, we as humans believe in. there is no way for you to say "see, look there is heaven." so 'believing' in heaven and 'believing' in gravity are completly different. one is a belief and one is an explination for why the apple falls instead of rises.

no, that's right on many more levels. he's comparing mythology to mythology.
for instance, people of today, well most of them at least, wouldn't regard greek gods, or norse gods, or sumerian gods, as a real religion, but merely as mythology. what makes the religions of today any different?

Who says I do not witness my God to be true by the things I see around me? Just because you interpret those things differently than me doesn't mean it isn't knowledge. I do not deny that I could be wrong but based upon the evidence I've seen... I believe in God. In just the same way I do not deny that I could be wrong about the evidence I've seen about gravity. The evidence from what I've witnessed is that both are true.
but just because god is true does not make your version of god true (christianity). thats a leap. also that does not mean that heaven and hell literally exist. yes one may see the flowers or the spiral of the seashell as perfect as they all follow the same pattern, and one may use that as your personal evidence that god exists. at the same time that evidence may not be enough to convince someone else, or apply to another christian, who says "no i believe that god just made the big bang and the rest was all just what happened" for example. also evidence to yourself that god exists (such as the seashell example) does not mean that heaven exists). if for example you saw the earth open up and hell deamons running around, and you werent drunk or hallucinating in any way, you would know that hell exists.Who says I do not witness my God to be true by the things I see around me? I understand why you'd believe that but I believe it to be the Judeo-Christian God that exists due to the Bible. I know that's a very cliche answer but I'm constantly learning more and more about the Bible every single day typically for hours at the time. The more I learn the less I doubt my God to be the God of the universe.
fair enough,do you take the bible word for word?I understand why you'd believe that but I believe it to be the Judeo-Christian God that exists due to the Bible. Um, sorry, but could you be the christian to finally give me a good, logical explanation as to why the bible, a book written by MEN thousands of years ago, provides ANY evidence that god exists other than the usual "the book says it's true, so it's true period"?

I believe it to be completely true and the Word of God. I take many passages to be literal and many to be figurative depending on the genre of the passage (poetry for example isn't to be taken as literal, the historical books are). Also, I believe each passage should be interpreted in the context of the entire Bible and not just taking what a single phrase says. Basically yes but I believe the Bible can be easily misinterpreted.
