Many people talk about life after death but what about LOVE after death? Can a woman and husband still love each other after they die?

Many people say that if a woman and her husband are burried together their bodies will simply decompose together and make a bountiful soil that could possibly contribute to the growth of some tree. They say that love is limited to the physical brain and when our brain dies we cannot love anything anymore. They say that beliefs that are too good to be true are simply wishful thinking and are usually false. What do you think? Do you think there is love after death?

Why would a wife stop loving her husband just because he is dead, she would still love him from her memories of him.

also this thread kinda sucks, you could of said "Many people talk about life after death but what about chicken after death? Can a woman and husband still eat chicken after they die?"...then this thread would be legendary. go make that thread now.

Matthew 22:23-33 states the following: (sorry I do not have time to further comment)

That same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him with a question. "Teacher," they said, "Moses told us that if a man dies without having children, his brother must marry the widow and have children for him. Now there were seven brothers among us. The first one married and died, and since he had no children, he left his wife to his brother. The same thing happened to the second and third brother, right on down to the seventh. Finally, the woman died. Now then, at the resurrection, whose wife will she be of the seven, since all of them were married to her?"

Jesus replied, "You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven. But about the resurrection of the dead—have you not read what God said to you, 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? He is not the God of the dead but of the living."

When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at his teaching.

I do believe so, I'd like to be buried with my husband when we die. And of course if he died before I did I'd still love him.

Take note that in wedding ceremonies it is said: "Till death do us part".

What this phrase means is that marriage ends with death. This also probably means that the love relationship of marriage ends with death. But if there is no marriage after death, there is something else, right? If there is and what it is we don't know. Even if it is possible to love your wife after you die then it would be nothing like the earthly or bodily form of love we know here on earth. It would be nothing alike.

One thing is for sure: After the physical body breaks down, the bodily form of love does not hold true anymore. After death, you won't love your wife because of her small pretty face and her small baby nose. Instead the love for your wife in heaven, if it exists at all, must be of a different nature completely. It is spiritual and not physical.

After death, you can't love your wife because of her pretty face anymore. Instead you will love her spirit in heaven. Marriage is a beautiful love relationship, but I believe it is exclusive on earth.

Anyway, even if this is completely untrue and the man will not be with his wife again, this doesn't mean they will not be memorialized as a loving couple by their children and family. They will have photo albums which they will pass to their children and their children will pass them to the next children and so on. Photo albums can last for at least 4 or 5 generations after you. Also the couple will be immortalized by their DNA. The woman will pass some of her DNA to her children and her husband will pass some of his. Your DNA can last for thousands of years.

It might sound cynical but I'm starting to feel the same way about love: love is a cruel and selfish thing, It's very painful when it's not reciprocated like when you fall hard for a married woman. I think the fact that a woman can only choose one man and the fact that a man can only choose one woman is what makes love so cruel and selfish in my opinion. It's a basic design flaw and if God was so loving and all-powerful, he wouldn't make this fundamental flaw.

And the belief that love ends after we die actually explains alot: the fact that there is pain, suffering, unrequited loves and rejection. Things which many people regard as evil or injustice.

Because if we are limited to our physical brain we cannot be held responsible for our actions which many people regard as evil. What this also means is that we cannot choose who were are attracted to. We simply follow the dictates of our brain and our natural sex drives. If this is true then our love, hopes, dreams and other strong emotions will all cease to be after we die, probably for good.

X4D
My reason for lack of belief if just that - They choose a person. Possibly not intentionally, possbily against all their prejudices... But truth be told, anyone can fall for anyone. It's just a part of a natural process of human behaviour -and the individuals involved are completely irrelavent-. It's an ingrained paradim from our youths that people grow up and fall in love. I mean, have you seriously gone out and spoken to any large number of people? Worked in customer service? There is so little variation between people that it's ridiculous, and what differences there are, are often trivial or simply groups them into different cliques or types... And then we see all this **** in movies like Harry Potter about the "Power of love" :-\

Love is an emotion. I believe this emotion is caused by electric currents in the brain. As these electric currents shut down and the brain decomposes there is no love anymore. No brain = no emotion = no love.

You could not love someone before you were born so how can you love someone after you die?

I don't know about death, but I know that when you're alive, even when that person is gone, you'll still always love them. In that sense love is undying.

Not actually.

X4D

I don't believe to that. I'm a Christian.

I believe that dead people don't have any special relations to anybody. Of course if the other part of the couple dies, the one who's alive can still love and feel longing to that person who died.

What do you mean by the other pair? The couple is already a pair and if both the husband and his wife died, there is no one left but their children (if they have any) or other family members.

[QUOTE="PlaWeird"]I don't believe to that. I'm a Christian.

I believe that dead people don't have any special relations to anybody. Of course if the other pair of the couple dies, the one who's alive can still love and feel longing to that person who died.

X4D

What do you mean by the other pair? The couple is already a pair and if both the husband and his wife died, there is no one left but their children (if they have any) or other family members.

Oh damn. I wrote it wrong. It's supposed to be "part" not "pair" :D

Different. No sex, for one thing. But you don't need sex for true love.

[QUOTE="Mr_Kowaski"]Why would a wife stop loving her husband just because he is dead, she would still love him from her memories of him.X4D

Yes but when they both died, can they still love each other?

Tbh, I think your talking a load of bs. How could someone possibly love their significant other after death? Sorry but I just don't buy in to it.
