[QUOTE="Mr_Kowaski"]Why would a wife stop loving her husband just because he is dead, she would still love him from her memories of him.KOTORkicker

Yes but when they both died, can they still love each other?

Tbh, I think your talking a load of bs. How could someone possibly love their significant other after death? Sorry but I just don't buy in to it.

Why wouldn't they?

Different. No sex, for one thing. But you don't need sex for true love.Theokhoth

After death there is no face or body. This means you can't even touch her or kiss her.

Matthew 22:23-33 states the following: (sorry I do not have time to further comment)

That same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him with a question. "Teacher," they said, "Moses told us that if a man dies without having children, his brother must marry the widow and have children for him. Now there were seven brothers among us. The first one married and died, and since he had no children, he left his wife to his brother. The same thing happened to the second and third brother, right on down to the seventh. Finally, the woman died. Now then, at the resurrection, whose wife will she be of the seven, since all of them were married to her?"

Jesus replied, "You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven. But about the resurrection of the dead—have you not read what God said to you, 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? He is not the God of the dead but of the living."

When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at his teaching.

mindstorm

So basically... "I don't have an answer to your question, but I'll yap-yap-yap until you stop caring what you asked so any answer will do."

So you expect me to love a dead person? Hell no! For starters I don't believe in love and secondly why WOULD you love a dead corpse, who just lays there and can't talk to you at all?

To tell you the truth, I don't really buy into it either. It's just one of these beliefs which are too good to be true and beliefs which are too good are usually false. I believe love ends with physical death. I don't think love is intended to last forever anyway. Everything needs to have an end even if it's something good. Anything good which lasts for eternity loses its value and meaning.

If love isn't eternal, then it isn't love. Honestly, I'm surprised people are actually siding with the 'no', option. Obviously, if there is no afterlife, the corpse cannot love it's former lover, but that lover can always cherish the deceased person's memory, and love said person forever. Love - if it is love - does not end at death.

All this proves is that the living people who remained can still love the person who died but it doesn't prove that dead people can love. I like to believe that when I'm dead I can't love my wife anymore and when she dies she can't love me anymore too. Nothing lasts forever, not even the universe itself.

Well yeh, I thought that was the point. Your question could also be interpreted as 'Is there an afterlife?'

If there was ever to be any proof of life after death, reincarnation and the ability to go on forever in whatever form then the entire fear of death, embrace and sanctification of this life would cease to be. The fact that we sanctify this life and fight to defend it at all cost proves to me that there is very probably no other life but this one.
