Yeah sure. All you gotta do is reverse engineer, figure out every possible way you could be caught (D.N.A. evidence etc) and then eliminate those possibilities.domatron23
Hm.. Yea you can always hide the evidence but there will always be motive, I think that's the hardest part to hide.

Easy just eliminate the motive. Kill a random person who you have absolutely no connection to. That does mean that you can't kill your enemies but it's still a perfect murder

Yeah but people can always come up with new forensics. D.N.A. has helped to solve crimes committed prior to it's discovery.

true... you could just go on along drive to somewhere and kill a random person, drive bakc and you'd be even harder to catch. As to why you would want to do that :|
but true you couldnt kill your enemies.

Well yea random killings could be easily carried out but there's just no point to it (comforting to know that most people don't choose to operate this way). If you wanted to kill someone, it's already not a perfect murder as there'd be a motive. Motivated killings require much cleverer obscuring of the truth.
PS. This is my 666th post, I never thought it would be about perfect murder.

Congrats on the 666 posts.
I suppose you could circumvent motive by framing someone else. How the hell you would do that is another thing all together.
LOL anyone else find irony in the fact we are discussing possible ways of committing a murder and not being caught.. it doesnt get locked. Yet much lesser things would be locked in a heartbeat?muppet1010
Well I think that there's a tacit understanding that this is a discussion about a concept rather than a plan of action.

I reckon someone up there has a more nefarious motive, so if I should dissapear...

yes I realise its all sort of theoretical, but none the less
Is it possible to pull off a perfect murder?hobbez
Of course. And you can't prove it, because if you can, then it's not perfect.
There is no such thing as a perfect murder. There will always be some degree of evidence. There is a way to getaway with murder.
The only way to get away with murder is to belong gone with NOtraces back to you. Once you're a suspect it's only a matter of time until they figure out it was you and all they need then is the evidence. They will eventually find it. It's not what they know it's what they can prove, but once they know theywill dig until they can prove it.
Be long gone with no witnesses nor suspision. That's how you get away with it. It won't be perfect but nobodyd knows who you are nobody knows you were there so nobody has any reason to suspect you. They don't even know who you are. You could be anyone anywhere in the world.
People get caught because they kill people they know in an area they livewhere people know or recognize them. They can't disappear. Their only hope you would be that the jury is stupid or judicial technicality conflicts with justice
Some get caught because they keep doing it in the same area or they have the evidence right underneath them. That's usually why serial killers are caught.
There are hundreds (likely thousands)of unsolved murder cases in the world. So yes.Fortier
But they stilll aren't perfect, all those cases still are under threat of being solved. A perfect murder is unsolvable, hence why there is no such thing as a perfect murder.
Even if you can kill people by inducing heartattacks with a magical notebook, you still can be caught

Yup, maybe 12 or 20 or whatever years later the FBI shows up with awarrant for you arrest because someone reopened the case and has some new evidence.
