when i said time and distance are actually the same.

And that it would be impossible to be on two different places at the same time.

Well then i said or can we?

Well scientist did find a way for atoms to be on two different places on the same time. Since we all exist out of atoms... It's called quantum teleportation but it's actually duplication since the atom that they teleport stays on the same place too. They can only do it for 10 miles but they will be able to do it a lot further in the future

To an extent, yes, but to believe something to such a strong degree I need some proof of plausibility. I like to believe there is a God or something of the sort just because I feel it gives things more meaning. I know there's a lot of atheists out there who simply don't have that sort of faith for the lack of proof, and that's both fine and understandable, but is there any harm in feeling like you may actually have a sense of purpose through some sort of faith? Even if you're wrong, does it really matter in the long run? I think sometimes people need to just see beyond what's right in front of their face. This may not make sense, but I'm just rambling at this point.

What do you believe in that you dont have proof exists? For example, Aliens, God, Did Dinosaurs walk the earth with Humans, Is there Humans in another galaxy, etc.

YellowOneKinobi

Well, here is I think one way that there actually could be humans in another galaxy. What if this evolution of ours isn't as random as we think it is? What if the way life evolved here is basically a template? First sludge/slime. Then little single celled creatures. Then some kind of fish-type-thing. Then Dinosaurs. Then (I'm reaching here) the Dinosaurs die off after millenia (a meteor has to hit at SOME POINT). Then the little creatures that survive turn into monkeys. Then cave men. Then people. What if that is a sort of template? I know it's a stretch, but I don't think that it is IMPOSSIBLE.

As likly as there are aliens out there I have some doubts that they will be like us. You have to consider the different indgridients in the universe, the places life can arise, the types of planets and the conditions on the planets, and the star(s) the planet orbits. For example we are made of water, carbon, calcium, iron, phosphorus, etc. Life elsewhere can be made of different stuff, form in different conditions. So there might be life that is vaugly like us and life that we won't identify as life because it may be too bizzare for us to comprehend it as "living"

No. I guess you can say I'm more of a logical thinker. There's no proof that life exist outside of Earth, but I do believe there is given the amount of galaxies and planets we haven't discovered or thoroughly explored.....

However, if the conversation is about a deity, no I don't believe in it...

Hey, I hear ya and for the most part I'm inclined to agree with you. But I have thought about the possiblity, as SLIM as it is, that maybe things aren't as random as we think. Or that is, maybe there is a level of physics we COMPLETELY don't understand. Do I THINK that our evolution is a template? No, not really. But would I be COMPLETELY shocked if that turned out to be the case? Not really. I guess part of what I'm getting at is that the only thing that I KNOW....is that I don't KNOW that much.

Perhaps, but wouldn't a soul's "instincts" draw it to it's mate?

Yeah! Its really fun! Because I love not having to think about things and not questioning my emotions too. I remember the days I was like this 24/7, the days i'd like to repeat.

I believe in god and there isn't much in the way of proof that he/she/it exists, and I think that it is statistically unlikely that there is not and has never been life elsewhere in the universe. So I guess I do but it's rare.

If I'm properly sensing the sarchasm, ha ha ha, I get it. (Although if not, then I apologize). But I'll say that of course it's not good to run completely on emotions and just to believe what makes us feel good. (All of this is just opinion of course). But science and logic and only bring us so far. I think maybe the best (or I guess possibly worst) example of this is........ Why is there something, instead of nothing? Where does it all come from? Some say God, some say "who knows." But since it doesn't seem likely that it will be proven one way or another, what does it matter? For myself, I grew up in a home that didn't really believe anything. It was my own "soul searching" (for lack of a better phrase) that made me question certain things. And my research, questioning and reason brought me to a conclusion that there is a God (not an old guy with a white beard or anything). But there IS something going on just below the surface of what we can see and touch. I also think that there is an afterlife (although 'after' really isn't applicable). For me, just doing good things and seeing and feeling the results of it makes me feel as though maybe, just maybe, IF I'm right, then I'm making my way there? (Of course, maybe every creature with a brain goes on despite their morals or lack there of). What is the harm? Even if I'm completely wrong, the worst that happens is I do a lot of good for a lot of people/animals, and from now until I lay on my deathbed, I BELIEVE I'm going to go on, even if in a different way. (For me, I KNOW but I use the word BELIEVE to avoid some arguements).

Logic actually allows us to believe things for which we have no "solid proof." For example: I believe that my ssister lives in Cary, NC. I have no proof of this, but I know she lived there when I visited for Christmas and she hasn't told me she moved. I have no proof she still lives there, but logic tells me that she does.

Yeah, that's why I gave the example that I believe there are aliens in outer space due to the size of the universe even though there's no proof. When it comes to things in a spiritual sense like angels and demons, that's where I stop believing....

In your case though, if you truly cared about finding out if your sister lives in NY, you have many resources at your disposal instead of going by mere faith. Its not something out of your range of discovering...

Your answer, then, should have been "yes", not "no."

The furthest galaxy and a lot of far off galaxy 's probably don't exist anymore also because we can still see the light that that galaxy and stars emitted but light travels at 300 000 000 km/s that means since it's so far away the light we see now , is light that started 8 billions years ago, those suns are probably all dead and at this moment , there is nothing left at that point in space and time.

I believe that my reason is valid, and that I am not looney. I accept that the world as I perceive it actually exists, as opposed to being an illusion. I believe that the universe is knowable and behaves according to laws that do not change, and this allows me to use the scientific method.

I also believe that lots of people on the Internet like to b**** about other people believing things they can't prove, when they themselves are doing the same thing.

And let me add, a vast amount of the stuff I "know" I didn't prove. Much of my knowledge came from someone telling me something, and me believing it. Various examples:

  • Heliocentrism: I have a passing interesting in astronomy, but I've never done the math that Kepler did to figure out that a heliocentric solar system works. I just believe it does.
  • China: I've never been to China.
  • Caesar: I'm 27. I never met Caesar, and I've never done any real archeology.

Obviously, I could make a huge list like this. So could everybody else. Nobody in this thread measured the speed of light, figured out supply and demand, or codified logic. We've all just taken stuff that a much smarter people actually came up with, believed what they told us, and then went about using those principles.

aliens and god, no, god is something a person choose to belive in or not as for aliens its not proved... dinosaurs is very much indeed proved... the pyramids themselves standing there is a proof it can be done i guess in general i need some kind of proof - i dont mean a photo of an ufo... our eyes are the most easiest sense to trick but i can belive in stuff i cant technically prove - but i experienced it, so its real for me but i cant prove it to others i mean how do u prove lucid dreaming, true dreams, heithened senses etc?

The only thing I believe in that doesn't have proof is "soulmates". Not sure if it has anything to do with souls but I'm not sure what else to call it. The only proof I have is 1st hand experience.Agent-Zero
