Like being with someone you're completely happy with, and you wouldn't want to be with anyone else, etc... Do you think it's possible?

Anything is possible, but the chances are so microscopic I'd have to go with a solid "No"

I say no, because with all the people in the world, Im sure there is more than 1 that I could get along with good enough to have "true love", which kind of defeats the soul mates idea. You have to make those type of relationship work..

Yes, I believe it's prossible. I just think this whole soul mate thing is being made into a bigger deal than what it is. I like to think of it more as... being really, really compatable. That's it.

I believe in love, but not true love or soulmates. People have to work to build relationships, it doesn't just magically appear before your eyes with everything being perfect.

Also, take into account its impossible to tell whether or not we actually have a soul. If we do not, then the term "soul mate" holds no weight.

No. I did think so the first time I was in love, then I experienced it two more times. I also believe it creates unrealistic expectations.

The term soul mate annoys me. It means that there is only 1 person perfect for you in the whole world?.... what if they are 30 years older than you and across the world, thats a depressing thought. I think you should be able to find "true love" with a number of different people if you try hard enough.... its just people think its their soul mate because once they've found the first one, they stop looking.

I don't believe that love is some mystical force. I believe that love is a combination of feelings like affection, loyalty, friendship, lust, etc, etc. I think you could fall in love with pretty much anyone if you were disposed toward one another, and you both wanted to make it work. Super long term relationships take work and dedication, true love is sticking with someone for 50 years and not being sick at the sight of them.

Basically you make what you make of it. In a way love is a self-fulfilling prophecy if you both love each other and want it to last.

I believe that it is possible to have a bond with another being so strong that it may be known to some as 'true love'. But if you ask me whether I believe in the metaphysical spiritual connection, then no. I challenge any person to prove that it does exist.

yes and no. How many people conceive of it no but what my grandparents had yes (they were happily married for 55+ years). "True love" is typically confused with infatuation but there is such a thing. It's not just emotion and not even just commitment but giving your life to the other person... most are not up to that.

I've seen it, really. My uncle married his wife when they were 18; they have been married nearly 40 years now and are still completely happy together.

No, I don't. I believe in the in the chemical sense of the word. As in "I'm attracted to you, you are attracted to me.". I don't think there is one person out that somone is meant for, I believe it is interchangeable.

Nope. By our nature we're promiscuous and always looking for the next opportunity to diversify our gene pool. Settling with one person goes against instinct.

There's not such thing as "the one". That's just a stupid notion people came up with over the years out of stupid spiritual ideas....If you find someone you really like and feel are more attracted to than anyone else, chances are there are hundreds more in the world who fit your liking and you just haven't met them, and you'd think they were your soul mates if you met them and you'd think the same thing.

So yeah, stupid idea. Lets conclude this already.

I voted "yes". I thought I experiences it with my ex but really love is blind and he wasn't the one for me. However I do believe in fate - things happen for a reason. Like he wasn't right for me but the guy I'm with now I think he is.

Everything wanes through time, that's why I think the concept of "true love" to be dangerous. I mean, take my parents for example... they've been married forever, but the romance is long gone. I'd rather have that flame to be continously lit with multiple partners spanning my entire lifeline then to have it doused with just one. That actually seems to be the case with most society come to think of it.
