[QUOTE="Dub_c6969"]I believe the harder you work the luckier you get.SpaceMoose

I've known people who spent years working two full-time jobs just to make ends meet, and with that kind of schedule it's not like they really have time to learn much of anything else. I generally don't consider said people to be lucky.

Work smarter, not harder!

I believe in luck to an extent. I have some lucky charms and favored socks and stuff, when I'm going to a big test or a job interview or something like that. I always wear my new celtic knot-necklace, and I haven't tripped since getting it...and I trip a lot!

No. Luck is completely relative. When something goes your way, its "good" luck. When it doesn't, its "bad" luck. All this proves is that life is not always fair.

That's because you keep looking down to admire it, which also gives you a view of the ground and thus you see anything that could trip you up. :D

If I believed in luck, I wouldhave to believe in the supernatural, and if I believed in the supernatural and was being intellectually honest, then I would have to believe in God. And as I am an atheist...

Why? I don't see how the existence of the supernatural would necessitate the existence of God.

Well, first off I don't believe in the good luck of a rabbits foot, because it obviously didn't work for the rabbit.

Now, I believe luck exists as a term used to describe a random but seemingly coincidental event or a pattern of events, but I'm not superstitious in the slightest.

It would. If the supernatural exists, then that would neccesitate and explanation of where the supernatural came from, by definition, this can not be a result of natural means, thus it can only have a supernatural origin. By definition, a supernatural origin is God.

Assuming that God can be the only possible cause of the existence of the supernatural seems a little weird to me. I mean, why couldn't the supernatural 'just exist'?

I don't belive in lucky charms. But I do belive that some people have some kind of divine protection. My roomate is that type of guy. In test questions he scores ultra high, even if he wasn't reading the books at all. Moreover he wins lottery on a weekly basis.

No, I'm not one for superstitions. However, the term luck to me just means coincidence or surprise.

I suposse the supernatural could 'just exist', but this would be so illogical that I sort've discounted the possibility.

I just see luck as an ironic occurrence (nothing supernatural) that some people see as some predetermined fortune.

I don't think luck can manifest in material possessions. What I think "luck" is 49% intelligence and 49% confidence, and maybe 2 percent that things just work out for you
