[QUOTE="nimatoad2000"]evolution is a fact.Duckman5Actually it's a theory. the theory of evolution , aka the explanation of our evolution, step by step and why is a theory, everychanging. BUT the fact that we evolve, and that evolution exists, IS FACT. people always get this mixed up, they say just because its a theory means its not fact, the theory isnt 100%, but evolution itself is a fact.
i said evolution is a fact, not the theory of evolution is a fact, you fail at trolling.nimatoad2000He wasn't trolling.
I'm agnostic but I am satisfied with the Darwinian explanation. And I think it's believed that humans and apes have a common ancestor, not that we are direct descendants of them.
[QUOTE="Duckman5"][QUOTE="Genetic_Code"] It's a theory built on facts.nimatoad2000I know but I'm just saying. It's not a fact by itself. :P i said evolution is a fact, not the theory of evolution is a fact, you fail at trolling. :| Oh please... *Leaves thread*

wasn't it some sort of fish that all mammals evolved from?...but anyways yeah we come from a certain missing link of some sort of ape species...
We share a common ancestor, humans are scientifically classified as bipedal primates.
There's so much evidence to suggest that humans and other modern primates share a common ancestor that we shouldn't even be debating this.

I meant agnostic about the particular question of human evolution. Agnostic is not primarily a word to be used only for religious belief.[QUOTE="STurn21"]
Being agnostic has nothing to do with whether or not you believe in evolution. I am an agnostic theist and I know as a scientific fact that humans are directly related to apes.

In that case I'm not agnostic about evolution at all, since it's logical. Most people accept that traits are passed on from parent to child. If those traits increase the likelihood of surviving long enough to have children, then those particular traits will be passed on more and become more prevalent. Over time the species will change as a result. It seems pretty believable that humans and apes could have evolved from the same species this way; we are pretty similar, after all.
We did indeed evolve from a common ancestor, though it is not precisely correct to say we evolved from apes.chessmaster1989I really thought he was referring to great apes. I didn't want to split a hair. :P
Not really, but I'm not even sold on evolution itself. Humans took a very strange path on the evolutionary process, where we got smarter but less able to cope with the enviroment we lived it rather than adapted to it like other animals. Has any other animal gone down this path?

Actually being smarter makes us MORE able to cope than other species. Example: "Oh crap, it's cold! What to do? I know, I shall invent fire! Now I haz the warm." Meanwhile, the mammoth become extinct. Take that natural selection. The path of our evolution has allowed us, to some extent, to subvert the normal order of things by making mental rather than physical ability a defining characeristic.
