Personally I dont believe there are other senses (even ones we havent 'discovered') as such we have evoled up to this point with what we have and our DNA isn't going to change. As for people saying we only have 5 senses they are wrong for me I would class humans as having 8 MAIN senses:
- Sight
- Hearing
- Smell
- Touch (Temperature*)
- Texture (friction)
- Pressure
- Temperature = sense in its own right
- You can feel it witohut having to actually touch for example putting hand just over a hot surface.
- Telemetry (awareness of space)
- Pain I would class this as a sense on its own even if it is a poor one
- Refered pain lots of nerves can feel pain, but an area of the body with little nerves 'borrows' a big nerve so it may feel pain in other parts of the body compared to where it actually is
- Time/temporal
- The way we precieve time is very varible, time can go fast/slow depending on bordness/age etc. Our body also has two different body clocks: Day/night cycle and Age.
Taste deserves a mention although it shouldn't really be classed as a sense its VERY limited and can only detect 5 distinct things:
- Salt
- Sour (acid)
- Sweet (sugars)
- Bitter (alkali)
- Umami (protain, fats)
Anyone seen 'Looper' it shows that humans in the future will somehow have limited telekinetic powers, no no no its just not possible.
