it's alright to make a topic about the existence of god, but try not to make one as generic as this one and as typical as this one.
I do not.
I believe "God" is a conception created by the human mind to describe the "unknown" or revere parts of nature. It is also used to describe a mystical state of ego-detachment found in austere physical and mental experences (i.e. fasting, meditating, taking psychadelic drugs, etc.).
A literal being most definitely does not exist. Since there are so many religions (if one did, all religion would be the same), and no substantial evidence to prove the existence of any supernatural being... which of course by defintion could not exist in our "plane" of existence.
Also, I find this quote emphasizes my position on religion in general:
"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it." ~ Shakyamuni Buddha, Kalama Sutra
I'm not able to tell if that's sarcasm or real... I absolutely don't believe there is a god.yeah Who dosen't? you acually believe we came from some fake big bang theory? yeah right universe wasent here all of a sudden and popped out of nowhere.

I have absolutely no idea if God exists or not, and it's not something that keeps me up at night. There is probably something that is far beyond our comprehension, and I guess that could be considered "God". If there is a God though, I'm farily certain it is nothing like the God(s) depicted in religion (read: an angry child).

Real No problem is there?
I tend to believe there is. However, I'm also completely aware that neither answer makes any logical sense. If there is no ultimate creator, then why do we exist? And if there is an ultimate creator, then why does it exist? Both responses lead to a logical absurdity that is a complete breakdown of the universal principle of cause and effect.
Its the best theory so far, but it's definitely not complete. I'm not a huge fan of it being in one point then exploding out, there was something else first, but it wasn't a god.yeah Who dosen't? you acually believe we came from some fake big bang theory? yeah right universe wasent here all of a sudden and popped out of nowhere.

Do you believe there is a god? Whether you are religious or not, what do you think? In my opinion, i do not believe there is a God. If there was, why would he/she let all these things happen to us? Why does he/she not indicate his existance? Why doesn't he/she use skype? There is no "real" proof that God exists. Some might argue of the creation of the world? Nobody truly knows. And I wonder why there are all these different religions? After all, they all do believe in a God, yet they are all different. What do you think?Gamerstevo666
I believe there is, and the reason why He lets all this happen to us is because we're being tested to see how much we truly trust in Him, we all fail sometimes, but He still loves us, God has indicated His existence millions of times, one time a person with cancer was punched by a God loving man, and went out, not by the punch, but by God's Spirit, and when he woke up, there was that cancer on the floor beside him, no blood or anything, but it was out of him. Prayer is our Skype with God. And the reason people have all these different religions is because some people don't think a certain religion is correct, so a man makes his own religion.

No... you can believe in that fake supreme being, I'll believe in the big bang theory. (which I strongly believe) Was just wondering![QUOTE="cyborg9"][QUOTE="LustForSoul"] I'm not able to tell if that's sarcasm or real... I absolutely don't believe there is a god.

I believe in God, but the way that person presented they did...that sounded rude to me. Atheists' opinions are their opinions, don't attack it, but calmly disprove it. what did the cancer look like and did he choose to keep it as a momentoWell it's a good thing the Big Bang theory doesn't say we came from nothing and popped our of nowhere. Well it's a good thing the Big Bang theory doesn't say we came from nothing and popped our of nowhere. The ironic part is that the strawman you've created for the Big Bang theory is closer to what's actually depicted in the bible. That's what I was thinking... if anyone believes that the universe was created from nothing, it is creationists. Not scientists.I personally don't believe in a god in the sense that most people mean and I absolutely do not believe in any god spoken of in a religious text. I can fully understand the idea of there being a higher power but why would that be the top? Why would there not be something above a creator that got something else started and so on a so forth. I've heard this idea called meta-athiesm or meta-agnotisicm before and I like it quite a bit.

That's what I was thinking... if anyone believes that the universe was created from nothing, it is creationists. Not scientists. Right. The Big Bang Theory can only theorize so far back before our laws break down. It says nothing on where all the matter and energy came from. As far as the Bible goes though, God just created stuff out of "thin air".Well, they're close, but God created it in 7 days, the big bang theory states that a space rock exploded and created all the planets, which the law of biogenesis disproves, as nonliving matter cannot produce living matter, but living matter can produce living matter, have you stuck a piece of meat in a container and let a fly in it? Notice that fly will lay eggs and maggots will infest the meat, but if you allow no flies to get in it, you won't see any kind of fly larva.ImBananasIf living matter can only be produced by living matter, then how did God do it then? I don't think that you'd qualify God as being "living matter", would you?
What if that God doesn't make conflict with a prefectly good logical and scientific explanation for just about every phenomenon out there?I don't believe there is a god because there are perfectly good logical and scientific explanations for just about any phenomenon there is.

Not denying the possibility of god (I'm an agnostic atheist), but in my mind when people have to bend religion in order to make it congruent with scientific discoveries it reflects poorly on the plausibility of religion, which fits in with the logic half of what I said.
Also, didn't mean to say that science and logic conclusively disprove god, just that whenever someone says that there's a hole in our knowledge that can only be explained by the existence of god there's always a logical and/or scientific explanation for it.
