Do you bite your fingernails?

I bit them badly. For some reason it made my breath reek whenever I did it...I have no idea why.

That being said, over Christmas break I said enough is enough, and its been over a month since I last bit them. Every time one of the gets somewhat long and I feel like I wanna bite it I cut it. Its worked great, and I don't even have any urges anymore.

How can I maul people without my dear fingernails?

What I did when I bit them that far was put a band-aid over them. A new one every day. Left it there for about a month so I wouldn't be tempted. That way it could grow back.

I used to have a REAL bad habit about that.

Hell, when I was a little kid, I'd bite my toenails off. Which is pretty disgusting.

Anyway, up until the age of about 20, I was a habitual fingernail biter. I'd often bite my nails until I started bleeding. I just had to bite my nails all the time.

I'm better now though. I still bite my nails, but I only do it rarely. Like, I used to bite my nails all the time. But now the only time I bite my nails is when I look at them and see that they're way too freaking long. And since I don't have any fingernail clippers near me, I just bite them off.

Also, I used to actually eat my fingernails. These days, I throw them away after I bite them off. So that's a step in the right direction too, I guess.

But that's not to say that I NEVER bitew my nails so much that I bleed. Happens rarely for aesthetic reasons. Like, have you ever been grooming your face and have been unable to get your sideburns even? Like, one sideburn ends up being longer than the other, so you cut it shorter. But you cut it too short, so then you have to cut the other one to even it out. But you cut that one too short so now you have to cut the oter one shorter. And before you know it, your sideburns are GONE? Same thing with my fingernails. On rare occasions I'll bite them off, but it's an uneven bite. So I have to bite them even more to even them out. And before I know it, my fingers are bleeding.

To the question: no, not really.

I could never do that because a) I hate them too short b) they would be inconsistant when bitten and c) unless you just washed them you are putting dirty fingers in your mouth.
