Do you bite your nails? Or pick at your skin?

I do this all the time. It's been a habit since I was 3. I usually eat the skin around my fingers after bite off the nail. I get nagged at by friends and family often because of this.

Do you bite your nails, OT? Do you pick at your skin? Both?

Don't bite my nails, but I have picked the skin around my nails. I keep my nails really short so I can't do this anymore. I've bit the skin around my nails. I just stopped doing that. Keeping my nails short seems to help me not do it.

I figured out the biting the inside of my lip felt cool. Now its all hurt. :P So I'll stop doing that.

I bite my nails sometimes. I remember in grade 5 I got into the habit of biting little patches of skin off my fingertips. I think I quit cause it was making them look nasty

I bite my nails, even my toe nails, i crack my knuckles, i crack my ankles my wrists, my neck, i even crack one of my fingers that one of the knuckles has enlarged..........i need to get a handle on that one.X360PS3AMD05

I used to do that, but I found that I was occasionally biting them so short that my fingers start to bleed.

I still bite my nails, but it's not a compulsive habit any more. I still bite my nails, but only when my nails have grown too long and I don't want to buy a pair of nail clippers.

And I'm sure you're wondering about my toenails, and the answer is no. No, I do not bite my toenails. But I still don't need clippers. For some reason, my toenails are very soft, and I can simply peel off the ends when they get too long.

I bit my nails my whole life..So far down that they would bleed and hurt for a couple days at a time..AND all the skin that stuck up around my nails that bothered me...I am proud to say, Ive been nail/skin bitting free since 1 week before Thanksgiving 07..:) My nails have never looked so good and my fingers dont hurt...My youngest boy bites his all the time and I try to get him to stop...My oldest boy clips his nails..

The horrible thing is...I cant imagine how many nails/skin were in my gut...it just makes me sick feeling..

Biting my nails is my childhood habit.

Phew...thank goodness I'm not alone. Yeah, I want to quit but it's like everytime I say "I'm going to quit," I start again.

I have GAD (Anxiety) and OCD and one of my ticks is picking at my thumbs to the point where they bleed...badly. They've gotten infected a few times, so now I spend many days with Band-Aids on my thumbs. Amnesiac23

both. always have. I quit for 2 months a few years ago, but the allure of those un chewed nails.....i succumb to temptation. It was glorious!

I thought I was alone in this, I dun eat eat the skin, i just chew it and spit it, pretty disgusting but fun.

Neither, because that's gross. Plus, I like my nails long.
