Do you care about your post count anymore/at all?

I just realized that I'm a few hundred away from 80k. I remember back in the day, we really cared about our post counts. This was when everyone was making Unions and UCBs just to boost their post counts. I remember the fastesttruck meltdown when the admins reset his count. I also miss the levels. Remember trying to get through Level 63? Ahh, good times!

Do we still post count parties here?

Man, this place is a graveyard. The party is over, the after-party is over, the drunks have done woke up and slogged home, and even the landlord has been through twice.

At this point we're just hanging around till the bulldozers show up, kicking the occasional red solo cup in the yard.

I never really looked at post counts (clearly as I still haven’t hit 1k in almost 16 years on this profile). I’m more of the reader of posts and posting the occasional reply or topic.

I remember when people used to inflate their post counts by constantly ^bumping topics. It is crazy though how inactive the boards are nowadays compared to the past when it wasn’t uncommon for many threads to have hundreds of posts in them within hours, which is funny because in those days dial-up speeds were more common. I remember having dial-up and waiting for threads, articles, etc to load while I left WinMX on all day downloading a single album. Different world now online I guess.

Considering I've been around for 14 years and amassed less than 7,000 posts in that time, no, I don't care. I never did.

I hardly pay attention to post counts unless someone tells me otherwise. Now Twitter post counts on the other hand.

@JustPlainLucas: was thinking about him the other day, the boards could use one of his legendary rants. Perhaps Rise of Skywalker will bring him around, IIRC he’s pretty passionate about Star Wars.

Maybe back in the days of levels and emblems. Now I barely even notice anyone's (including mine) post count when browsing the forum and threads.

No, but I miss the level titles...... some of them were really strange but fun

I've only earned this many posts butting heads with the other zombies that still post here on System Wars. Outside of that, I noticed this place has been wheezing on oxygen for a while. I guess everyone's gone to Twitter and Reddit to talk about crap.

I've been here for over 15 years! And stuff like 10K post parties just used to be a part of forum culture that's gone now. Heck forums are an aging internet relic and culture. I think it would be cool if someone made documentary on forums.

Back in the day this is how we all communicated on the internet, but with Social Media, discord, and live streaming services most people have moved on.

i'd really like to know how they worked. if it was some kind of grand calculation of things like number of posts, number of videos played, number of forums posting on, length of time on site, threads started etc. then it was a very clever little engagement tool with a dopamine hit every time you levelled up

Yes, I was always curious to how they calculated that, I was at a fairly high level but less posts than some with lower levels. Agreed about the dopamine hit, it was interesting to see what your next title would be when you levelled.

Anyone know how they calculated it? And why did they stop it? New management? I miss the Greg Kasavin days.

Miss the levels more. Level 63 took ages. I don't remember if I ever finished it.

I can't remember where I left off. I know I passed 63. I think 64 was even worse, right? I wanna say I made it to 70 or at least the high 60s.

horgen is level 68 and you are level 71. It's on your profile in the Trophies tab. You were close to that max. I believe level 72 was the limit.

After I got my high post account banned, I stopped caring. Have not cared in years.

I just move on to another site and maybe come back in a couple years.

I'd like to make 100k before leaving for good, but I doubt I'll make it posting 1-2 times a week.

Took ages to go through. Maybe 500 days or so.

Not anymore. I always wanted to get to 10k posts, but now post count doesn't have much merit. Levels didn't really matter either, though we never trusted users under level 10.
