I'm really trying to get rid of this habit of mine, for it would do me plenty of could and save me plenty of worry and distress.
So I would like to know, are you like me, or do you not care about whether anyone likes or dislikes you?

I balance it with a question: "Would it benefit anything or anyone for me to spend the effort and energy required to change a person's misconception?"
The answer: No. Life's too short. If you choose to let it bother you, then you can also choose to not let it bother you.
Cynical? Not really. It's more of just letting it go, they in their life, I in mine. I simply walk on my way.
Time is a precious commodity. Why waste it banging your head against the wall, when you could instead go and do something more beneficial?
Nope. No one will be liked by everyone they meet in life. It's a waste of time worrying about it. Just be the best person you can be and if they don't accept it....their problem.
The more people hate me, the more satisfied I am with my life, because it means I'm pissing off a greater number of people, which is always absolutely hilarious.

If the person that dislikes me is my friend, then yes I do care.
If its someone that I don't talk to/will never have anything to do with my life, then who cares.
To some extent I do. No one likes bad publicity or anyone slandering their name. Of course, if you deserve it, that's a different story. But whatever people may say, to me/around me or behind my back to others, it doesn't phase me much. I'm more concerned about living my life than I am about trivial gossip or worrying whether or not people like me.
