Not socially, but for the taste. Surly Abrasive Ale is my favorite. So much flavor there.

No.  I've tasted several types of beer, bourbon, Canadian Whiskey and moonshine.  They all taste terrible and are all extremely bitter.  However, I do enjoy bourbon flavored treats like chocolates and ice cream.

Yes, I drink beers here and there. Usually a couple every day. I'm a Muslim, but the Quran doesn't forbid alcohol. It just says that alcohol has many good things in it, but it has more bad than good.

My post is meant for any of the Muslims who read here, in case you're wondering. To any Muslim reading this, I challenge you to find me where Allah forbids mankind to drink alcohol. You're letting the hadiths (something that should be rejected) dominate your life more than the Quran.

I have to admit I've often used hadiths to argue in Islam threads, lol. Interesting you say they should be totally rejected. That's not a common belief among Muslims, is it? (believe it or not I'm genuinely curious)

No, the hadiths are the cancer of Islam. It's the essential tool for all the sheikhs and imams to help them control the people by citing the hadiths and neglect telling Muslims what the Quran says. The most extreme example is stoning, the Quran doesn't mention that people getting stoned should be stoned to death, infact it specifically says people who commit adultery should be lashed (not to the death). So in this case the hadiths actually contradict the Quran. If a person is a Muslim, he should value the word of the Quran (which is from the highest source) only, instead of relying on a collection written down by a man, over 100 years after the prophet died. That means, my dear Muslims, that even a person born when the prophet died, was dead long ago when the hadiths were being collected. Ask yourself this, if I buy a red ford escort 1997 and I only tell people orally that I bought, and no one pens it down, what do you think that red ford escort will have become after 100 years? See where I'm getting, that's the main problem with Islam, along with the idiotic superstitions that you have enter a room with your right foot, or sleep on the right side, cause allegedly the prophet slept like that. The moment a Muslim puts stock in nonsense like that, that's when they're raising the prophet to be much higher than he was. Trust me, Arabs in particular don't like hearing this. I suspect that after the prophet died, all the tribe leaders jumped on the chance to make up stories to make laws benefiting their society through the hadiths. And since it was penned down 100 years after the prophets dead, and most people can't read the Quran due to illiteracy, the masses suddenly got easier to control.

Just with friends, or when I'm bored but at a bar and never at home by myself, because who does that. I mean even if you came home to find that your wife/gf has left you for your best friend and now there's nothing left but a dog that you don't like and a couch that has fleas.

I don't particularly see what's wrong with enjoying a drink at home by yourself.

I am with you. I like just kicking back by my self and watching a movie and drink a six pack

Beer can be tricky, but it's kinda like tea. You might not like it, right away, but once you get a little used to it, you'll love it.

Also it's important to try different brands, there's a big difference between this

and this

You are right however the second one isn't going to be that good since its light struck due to the green bottle. When hops hit light, it creates a sulfur compound called MBT.

No. You are ignorant and have probably only tried cheap mainstream products or more expensive ones that are only expensive because you are paying for a marketing campaign. Its like never eating meat or sea food before and having a bad experience with White Castle. Would you put a USDA Choice Delmonico steak or Maine Lobster up against their burgers or fish sandwich?

You are a full-blown mongoloid. I have had many beers, drink good beer pretty much exclusively, and love it immensely. That is besides the point entirely, which apparently went right over your head as you speedily retorted with a cliche argument that missed the point that SOME PEOPLE DO NOT EVEN LIKE GOOD BEER.

And those some people have probably never really even tried good beer (adjunct versions) and if they have, chances are they are drinking them incorrectly. Incorrect glass ware (straight from the bottle probably) incorrect temperature, etc. Maybe even the wrong style for them. The Brewers Association recognizes over 100 distinct styles of beer and after you factor in the many variations based on brewer, that number is in the thousands. Find me somebody who says they don't like beer and I will bet my next five paychecks that I could find something that they would love. Somebody certainly can't try a macro-wit like Blue Moon or Shock Top, IPA, certain kind of stout or a trippel made from extracts like Chimay and think they don't like beer.

Its basically why most beer comes in a dark brown bottle. The darker the bottle, the better protected it is. Unless its a Miller product which doesnt matter since they dont use real hops (Tetra-Hop). Beers like Corona are the absolute worst for this. Its also the reason they are drank from a long neck bottle with a like wedge. Long neck so you can't smell the liquid and citrus added to mask the taste. Here is a good read on the subject. http://beersensoryscience.wordpress.com/2011/03/17/lightstruck/

I'm not sure whether you are simply an idiot, or just haven't thought about the fact that tastes differ. My Dad, for instance, likes the good stuff. My brother would rather drink a sh!tty hard cider than VERY good beers, and my roommate at school hasn't like ANYTHING - and he's had a pretty broad exposure b/c I am pretty exploratory with my drinking, and he'll try anything once, even if he's disliked everything else alcoholic before. On the other hand, there are some people who dislike p!sswater that are pretty impressed with good beer. There is a lot of a variation involved.

On a side note, the Chimay was pretty great.

Yes tastes do differ however there is so much variety out there, I do not believe there to be a person who wouldn't like some kind of beer. Kasteel Rogue for instance is a Belgian brown however on Beer Advocate it is classified a fruit/vegetable beer. It doesn't even taste much like beer really. While sweet and delicious, its really nothing more than an overkill of Maraschino cherries. I think a cherry fan would appreciate this beer much more than a beer fan would. I've also had chocolate stouts that taste more like a chocolate malt dessert than it does a stout beer. You seem to be under the impression that all beer tastes like beer which isn't exactly so. As for Chimay? I don't hate it. I just criticize their use of extracts over whole ingredients. While I might buy a bottle from time to time, I would take a Delirium Tremens over it any day of the week.

A lot of those things you mentioned start wander off into what we don't really consider a normal beer. Some people simply are not beer drinkers. Now, this is where a normal person would say that there is nothing wrong with that, but I'd rather make fun of them for it.

Anyway, will try that other beer you mentioned if I run by it.

That wasn't even close to what my question was.

either way yes.

So rather than simply picking up the can and handing it to him, you'd have him travel to it? You really are a jerk.

u know. it will never happened. I never go to parties or night clubs. and the type of parties i go there is no bear. just coke. and no dance party and blah blah blah. just sitting on chair and waiting for foods.

You do realise not everybody drinks to get drunk? You don't have to be at a party or night club to be in the presence of alcohol.

It was hypothetical. Whether it will happen or no is irrelevant.

I grew up with an alcoholic and got turned off of alcohol at a very early age.  I occasionally tried things here and there and don't care for the taste of most things.  That said, I don't mind the overly sweet "girly" drinks where you can't taste the alcohol or I don't mind something like Jagermeister.  But other than that, I don't drink anyway.  Even if I wanted to, I can't now because of a jacked up stomach.  It'd put me in a lot of pain.
