Because i do and i think it's incredibly underappreciated.

Yes, I'm also a classical guitarist.

I just listened to this fugue for solo guitar by Bach, and i thought i've never heard of bach writing any sort of thing to do with guitar i wonder how this will be and it was quite amazing.

There's a massive amount of Bach transcribed for classical guitar. One of my favorites to play is Prelude To Cello Suite No.1.
There's also a lot of lute stuff Bach did which transitions easy to guitar.
I grew up with it. It also shares plenty of similarities with metal and even most rock music, so yes I enjoy it.
Yes I do, the Baroque period in particular.

I have to tell you the older I get the more I listen to classical music. I listen to it all the time. Sometimes people think im crazy because I will be driving around in my Jeep with Gleen Gould/Bach French Suits turned up really loud! Or Andras Schiff/Bach -Well Tempered Clavier.
And listen I just posted in another thread about how much I love rap music. I love all kinds of music. But I heard a quote recently that the world is spoiled on the "sweet and salty" notes of music. This has taken the apparition away from music like classical and jazz. You can see that just in the leanth of songs alone.
People want their snickers bar fix of music to be intense, in you face, salty sweet and packed in 3.5 mins. No one has the time or apparition for a full course meal of fine dining that takes an hour or more to savor...
Yes. Classical music is amazing. I don't think it's possible for someone who listens to music to hate the genre considering it's so widely used in soundtracks of movies, music videos, television and video games. To hate classical music would be to hate music itself.
Also, classical music must really be seen performed to truly appreciate it.
Yes I love CIassical music, it's my second favorite genre (the first being Metal), and since I want to do a major in Composition, it's all I listen to at school.
I like to see all the replies but people are not being very specific and that's a shame. Like they hear it but don't really know what they are listing to..
How about Right of spring by Igor Stravinsky (Mariss Jansons)? I have listened to that about 1,000 times!
or Alfred Brendel - Beethoven: "Pathétique" and "Moonlight" Piano Sonatas. Sure its bandwagon but its great!
OrYo-Yo Ma - Bach Unaccompanied Cello Suites- This may be the single most bandwagon classical album of all time (right now)!! It's truly the "Lady GaGa" or "Black Eyed Peas" of classical music right now! Its in about a million commercials. But it is still absolutely fantastic! - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZn_VBgkPNY
As I like to say to say to my friends "I've got that boom boom Bach"!
I love it, I listen to it all the time and play classical on piano and viola. Baroque is the best though.

Well, all the TC asked was if OT enjoys CIassical music, he didn't ask for specific pieces.
Anyway, here are some of my favorite cIassical pieces:
Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata
Beethoven - Symphony no. 5
Beethoven - Symphony no. 7
Beethoven - Symphony no. 9
Mahler - Symphony no. 5
Mozart - Symphony no. 41
Bach - Toccata and Fugue in D minor
Chopin - Study no. 3, op. 10
Chopin - Study no. 12, op. 10
There's many others, but that's all I can think of right now.

Yeah really nice list. But I like to list actual recordings/artist/symphonys. I mean Laserlight is ok but not really the same as a great symphony like Chicago or a great artist like Gleen Gould (RIP). Personally (like a lot or people) I think Gleen Gould is only a little behind Bach himself in his genius interpretations of the music! You can probably add Yo Yo pretty close to that staement too.[QUOTE="black_cat19"][QUOTE="Store24"]

You can probably add Yo Yo pretty close to that staement too.Truth be told, there's such an insane amount of interpreters in CIassical music I don't really bother with artists anymore.
You can go to your local music store's CIassical section and easily find 50 different recordings of the same piece, so all I care about is that I'm listening to Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, etc., regardless of who is playing it.
Thats really too bad. Of course there are (at least) 50 interpreters of classical music that doesn't mean they are all the same or good. Just like Jazz you are going to tell me every version of St Thomas is even close to Sonny Rollins version on Saxophone Colossus which redefined the jazz world as it was known? Or John Coltrane's "My Favorite Things" from the album of the same name? Again I understand where you are coming from but you should know when you talk about older and older music there are more and more interpretations / covers of it. That does not AT ALL mean they are all the same or even close to it! You should really try to listen to some Gleen Gould spricificly if you like classical music.Store24
Of course I know not all interpreters are the same, and not all of them are even good, but when you have 50+ different recordings of the same piece, how the heck are you supposed to know which one you should buy?
I think that's the ONLY thing I hate about CIassical music, the fact that I can't go and buy a CIassical CD without second-guessing my choice of interpreters. What if I picked a low-quality recording? The all look the same, so how am I supposed to know? Sometimes I'll end up not buying anything just because I can't figure out which recording I should get. I HATE it! :x
Love it, when I was younger I hated it but now I appreciate it. I enjoy playing classical pieces on the piano as opposed to songs.

Just do your research online. And I don't mean to sound like some expert. When it comes to Jazz, yes I will call myself an expert, I really am, I used to play saxophone and lived and breathed jazz for 4 years. I honestly know I know my sh*t about jazz. But classic... I'm mostly an armature too. Just trying to get my mind and hands around it recently. Please Log In to post.
