You guys had some major rioting several times ,not too long ago.

Probably not the same part of Paris though. Bagnolet was the last place I heard had riots, but the ones in 2005 were across the whole country, but mainly in poorer suburbs. That all started in Clichy-sous-Bois and spread rather quickly.

Where do you live?

On the coast, next to a forest, in a city made up of 3 cities. :P

I live on the outskirts of Doncaster town centre, UK. It's alright, everyone usually keeps to themselves but I chat to my next door neighbour when we both go on ciggy breaks at the same time. The area sounds crap (prostitutes, hospital across the road etc) but we don't really get any problems. We had chavs hanging round our house for ages, damaging the wall etc but that was my brother's fault. As long as you don't go wandering down Beckett Road at night you should be fine living round here :) Weather is crap of course but that's England for you...

It's alright. Not a lot to do, but enough to do. It's pretty cold though where I live, so I don't care for that. I'm a Florida boy. I don't do cold weather.

It was greatly exaggerated. Seriously, I remember friends and family from out of France thinking Paris was burning to the ground, and Japan stopped all flights to France. I agree that it was dangerous, but only in the ghettos. The media amplified everything.

Dude i love france, i was there last xmas, do you go to the roland garros tournaments in summer?

Nah, I'm not a big fan of tennis. Many of my friends do though. It's a bit difficult because we still have class and end year exams during Roland Garros.

I live in Louisville. A city in Kentucky. I like the people. But I guess I wouldn't mind living some place else. Considering there's not much to do here.

I've lived in a few places.

North Jersey is great if you have money. There is just an outrageous amount of stuff to do if you have the means. NY is a 40 minute train ride away, a gazillion sports teams, Philly is only an hour and a half away, Great Adventure, Monmouth Race Track, Atlantic City, the shore is an hour away, some crappy skiing, and everyone drives like a maniac.

It sucks because its way too expensive, everyone is on top of each other (try riding the PATH during rush hour), everyone is very aggressive, there are some really really bad areas, and the area immediately surrounding NYC is an industrial wasteland. Oh, and guidos. Lots and lots of guidos.

Pittsburgh is great. If I had found a job there, I'd probably still be there. Its definitely a city, but a very livable one. If you are a drinker, its one of the greatest drinking towns around; lots of great bars and clubs. The food will kill you, but walking up the ridiculous hills will save your heart. Heinz Field is an amazing place to watch a football game (Steelers/Pitt). PNC Park is great too, but the team inside it defines futility. Pitt basketball is a pretty big ticket and the arena is also fairly new. There are a ton of great neighborhoods, and the city and universities/colleges have done a great job in rebuilding. Its also dirt cheap to live there.

It gets really really cold. Unbelievably cold. Testicles in your chest cold. The accent is ridiculous, almost like another language. The roads are crappy and, many times, at what seems like a 45 degree angle. They also get some crazy traffic; downtown is a penninsula with only three ways out, two of which include bridges that turn into tunnels.

I just moved to Raleigh. Its alright so far. I'm digging the weather (relative to NJ and Pittsburgh). Everything is so cheap that it feels like its free. Everything also seems new -- roads, houses, businesses. The main negative I've experienced is that everything goes very slow. I thought I was going to die waiting on line at the grocery store. People move at glacial speed.

Well the people here in Israel are quite friendly. However I do wish I lived someplace else where there are more dense and lushing green forests with lots of mountains and plenty of snow in winter as in British Columbia, Canada. Wish I lived in British Columbia.

What's so bad about Southern California? I wish I lived in such a warm climate. I hate being cooped up indoors all winter. It drives me bananas.SpaceMoose
I couldn't live with all the silly laws in California. Arkansas is much more relaxed :-P

Sorta. My home town in southern minnesota is on the border between 2 landscapes - huge forested hills, and flat farm land. Also theirs quite a few lakes within a 10 mile radius and a river as well. So lots of variety.

sure, i don't mind living on a farm. People from the city actual come to our area just to look at farm animals, although I really don't understand why... oh well, I'd never survive in the city, and they'd never survive where I live either so I guess we're just in different worlds.

I live on Haleakala volcano in Hawaii, 4,000 feet up. I love it. It's hot and muggy downtown, upcountry is nice and cool, beautiful pastures, and great views. The drive into the nearest town is 45 minutes, but I enjoy the seclusion, so it's worth it.

I live in the outer-subs of the Chicago area. Bleh... Mostly obnoxious kids, annoying soccer moms, and the traffic is terrible. I'd either go for the countryside or the city, one extreme or the other.

I was thinking the same thing. I live in a small town that is desperate to be a metropolitan city, so we have one half of the town center that's greasy spoon cafes and chippies and the other half which is fancy coffee shops and italian restaurants. However, everyone sounds like Peter Kay. ^_^;

I love where I live because its an outdoors person haven. The only downside is that in the winter you're sort of on house arrest unless you're attempting to shovel out your car or attempt to make it to the ski resorts which most of the time is useless to attempt. Too much snow in the winter but perfect any other season ;-) ♥

I live around the center of England, and it's alright here. The closest city is great for shopping and going on trips to, but I don't get along with the types of people that live in my area.

Not really. Here in Sendai I have to go everywhere by bicycle, the train only goes to suburbs.. I wish I was in Tokyo Metro Area, enjoying the train system.
