lol not sure I would even know how to do that, so obviously no.

I am guessing it involves re-installing the router?

LostProphetFLCL

Not really. Go to your browser and type in this address:

192.168.1.1

On most routers that will get you to the 'internals'. Password and username should both be: admin

Unless someone changed it.

From there it depends on your router, but you have to turn off DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol) and set the IP addresses manually. Not a good thing for someone who don't know what they're doing to try, you may disconnect yourself from the router and not be able to figure out how to get back in.

[QUOTE="entropyecho"]Very valuable skills. Have you ever put together a computer cluster?

entropyecho

Yup! Out here at Oak Ridge National Labs, back a few years though. They've replaced everything we sat up with the worlds fastest computer since that time.

Wow, that's fantastic. I am trying to convince my boss to get some neutron measurements performed at the Spallation Neutron Source at ORNL. I would love to visit the place some day. Argonne National Lab was a great experience (did some X-ray and neutron measurements), but the neutron facility at ORNL is world-c1ass. The very very limited experience I've had with using clusters is using the facility at Pacific Northwest National Lab for some simulations.

Yeah, ORNL is awesome, and the place is HUGE spread out across multiple sites around town. Then we have Y-12, and that place is even huger and goes deep, deep underground where they keep all the nuclear warheads they're testing. They shoot this plastic thing at the uranium in a tube or something. Seen it, but don't understand it.

Alright I'll pass then.

I am at least able to get it to work with a bit of trouble for now. I can try getting my friends step-brother and dad to help again. They managed to get it working the way it is after a system restore.

[QUOTE="mrbojangles25"]

my ability to speak with strangers

not so much because I am really good at it (cuz I am lol), but because of how far I have come.

Before high school, my mom thought I was actually mentally handicapped or had a social disorder. In high school, I just stopped caring (lost my self conciousness) but lacked the skills. In college, I eventually got a bit better.

But after school, and after getting a job requiring me to talk to people, I have come a loooong ways.

ariz3260

I can relate to that.

Being an immigrant myself there was quite a few hurdles I had to overcome just to be able to live what other would consider a normal life. And being a natural introvert really doesn't help my cause much either. I remember as a teen I was a very moody kid and didn't know how to help myself while always envying how "good" other people have it, and secretly hating my life and always thought why I had to endure such a harsh life.

Eventually, I learned that if I was to improve my situation, I will need to go out and make that happen... no ones going to give me happiness, it is something I have to go out and "earn" it, so to speak. It really wasn't easy, besides being good at school I literally got nothing else going on. I pretty much force myself to learn English and speak to people. Quite amazingly though, once I started to do those things and did them well, good things started to happen... not saving I have it good now, but have definitely came a long way since then.

If there's one thing I can be proud of, its that no matter how many times I get knock down, I'll always get back up. Those harsh and awkward teenage years really set a good foundation for me

yea I hear that.

I dont know where youre from, but growing up I always was surrounded by a lot of hispanic immigrants. These kids couldnt speak english, and they came from more rural parts of Mexico and were not used to American customs. As a result, they were picked on, tended to stick to their own people, etc.

Theyre were a lot of fun, I played soccer with a many of them, but after entering middle school and high school that kind of stopped. Didnt see them around

Anyway every time I go b ack to visit my folks I usually run into a couple of them. Its cool catching up, and none the less I am suprised how they have changed from those kids I knew back in elementary school

I'm an excellent typist. I can find many things on the Internet via Google rather quickly. I am very efficient at grammar, or at least I'm very cautious about it. I'm pretty good at algebra. I have deep thoughts about a lot of things, although you couldn't tell from this post. That's about it.

I'm from Hong Kong originally. With some English education growing up the transitioning itself wasn't too difficult in actuality... I think it has more to do with my perception of "how life should be" and "how life really was" was the main reason of my hardship... in another word, I pretty much brought it upon myself

I was a total dweeb

Almost everything on rhythmic gymnastics looks painful, but flexibility is (on the most part) a matter of practice. I love it, really beautiful sport...

Video gaming skills. I don't know if it's natural talent or not, but I can figure out the enemy's weakness in a few seconds without any form of guidance.

I can also live in all kinds of climates. I guess it was because I lived in a tropical region when I was younger and moved to a colder area when I was older.

I'm also quite talented at writing and being creative, although I don't really show it.

I impress myself with my GIMP work sometimes, yes.

And sometimes I accomplish things in video games that make me feel awesome.

And I amaze myself with my laziness, I can successfully get out of bed an hour or 2 later than what I put on my alarm clock! :o

I've been told by many people that I'm good at video games. I'm often handed the controller when I'm at a friend's house and told "Just beat this for me..." even if I haven't played the game before.

Being good at video games isn't really a useful skill though.

I was initially going to give the idea of 'Business_Fun' and 'skilled' the horse laugh it deserved, but then I remembered back when I used to write, and how sometimes I'd sit back, look at what I'd written and think 'this fits'. Best of all, sometimes others would agree. So if I had to find some glimmer of pride in what I do, it would be my ability to string together a sentence to (occasionally) pleasing effect.

I impress myself a lot when I go training to my dojo. I have made certain things(correctly and effectively) I have never seen before. My "sensei" says it is so because my body is starting to react to the training of the martial arts, it is the instinct which is starting to flow. I do smile and wonder "how the heck did I did this???"

I impress myself sometimes while playing guitar, play something awesome sounding.. then about 5 seconds later.. I try to play it again so I can cram it into my memory, only remember it will enough about 5% of the time... =(

Test taking skillz, my ability to Christmas-tree my Latin exam (didn't look at a single question) and got a 96. Also when I read ~10 pages of a book, did a report on it and got an 84-6ish on it. However I'm more impressed with when I actually 'study', like in economics.. pretty much didn't bother doing home/classwork/quizzes so, day before the final exam, decided to read that book.. got a 98 =D; any less than a 96 and I woulda failed x.x

You mean like how much I'm skilled at tolerating how much I'm unskilled in things?
