Your not Davey Jones are you? I'm not afraid of death, I'm afraid of what happens after you die.jngbbYeah same here.
Death comes as a natural part of life. All things are born, live for their time, then die. For those that believe in a greater power, they can see that as the will of their Creator. For those who are more science based, death is the final toll, the inevitable step in life to be transferred from a corporeal state to a state of energy elsewhere in the universe.
So to answer the question, no. Death is not something to be feared.
not at all...i wonder about it though...just the many ways it can happenriseagnstfanhow would you like to die? and what is one way you would hate to die?

i meant if i was cornered or i didnt see it coming and i had no way to defend myself
Not really afraid of death, but lets say I was in war or something, increasing my chances of dieing sooner.
The two reason why I don't want to go to war, are these:
1. SNIPERS, they could be ****ing ANYWHERE man... and a good sniper can easily avoid detection, and hell, now with .50 caliber sniper rifles, people can take shots from a mile and half away. The Cheytac M200 can hit a target 2500 + yards with no problem, ok yes these weapons I mentioned are on the U.S. side so I don't have to worry, but hell, what prevents other armies coming up with this technology?
2. Artillery, I could just be at base and then BOOM, I'm hit with a howitzer shell. There is an "anti-artillery" system in the works (which is amazing cuz I thought it just couldn't be done.) it's just a lazer that detects the incoming shells and then detonates them before they hit the ground
Then yes, I would be afraid to die but not because I'm actually afraid of "death" - it's just that I'm not 'ready' for it, but if I had a terminal illness like Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS) or something, then I guess after a while of thinking about it, I'd accept the fact that I'm going to die and I'd be ready for it, and therefore, not as afraid, if not afraid at all.
I'll take risks, without thinking "will I die doing this?" though, but I'm still smart about the choices I make.

This reminds me of the book Tuesdays With Morrie (that's actually why I mentioned ALS in my last post.) anyone else read it? It's a fantastic book and hell, it's not even 200 pages so you could finish it in a day or two if not a few hours.
Although, there's a great passage in it about "death", I'm gonna look for the book and see if I can find it. BRB.

How would I have any clue whatsoever of how I am going to die? I have no medical conditions so unless in the unlikely event of an accident it will probably be from old age
what is the book about?
After starting my quest through House of Leaves yesterday, this picture makes me incredibly uneasy.foxhound_fox

Is that a book? I looked it up, it seems interesting enough, I'll put it on my "next to read" list once I finish the "odd thomas" series by Dean Koontz, I accidently read the last of the series first, without having any idea there were 2 before it, and I just got the second one and I'm about to finish it, finished the first one just a few days ago.
I've just decided: When deth comes to get me, I'll kick his ass, take his robe and his scythe, and become death myself. Then I'll kill death. Wewt. Then I get to meet all of the other Deaths. I mean, come on, there can't be ONE death when people die as quickly as they do.Manly-manly-man
I guess he's just good at what he does, remember the "Final Destination" series?

Lol - definetly reading this next!
I think those who do not fear death have never truly had to confront the reality....not the thought or knowledge that it's coming, but the realization itself. Anyone ever heard of DABDA?
Denial.
Anger.
Bargaining.
Depression.
Acceptance.
These are very well known stages that some people go through when they are told they will be dying soon. People fear the unknown....nothing wrong with that; it's a large part of coming to terms with dying. So whenever I hear people saying, no they're not afaid, it makes me think they are thinking of death in an abstract sense.
I'm afaid, sure. It's letting go of existence, everything I've ever known, been, lived. How can anyone not be a bit scared when they are surrendering themselves fully to something they don't understand or can't forsee? Yes I'm apprehensive, even though it's inevitable.
