Do you find people more argumentative on the internet or in real life? I go thru out the day with little to no quarrels and I rarely see others in any type of confrontation. In fact most of the time I see any form of conflict is thru media. If it isnt a movie, the news fills me up with non-top fear mongering and unlucky scenarios, its like they love to report bad news. I probably wouldnt know of such unfortunate happenings in the world if it wasnt for the News scouring every nook and cranny for some negative issues to report. In public, people sit and/or stand having healthy dialogue amongst strangers with plenty of respect and being displayed, but not on the net, Why?.... -- At least with the internet you get some truths because a lot of people are cowards and only feel safe revealing their true self behind a monitor. I never knew people had so much hatred for each other until I started reading forums. As the days pass... I'm coming to the realization that many people are just phony. In public, most people put on a façade, smile and speak pleasant. But when they sign in to the net they change from Jekyll to Hyde. What forces people to act out in this manner? It makes them look like pansies, I just don't get it. I mean, why the hell are people so miserable? Why do people feel the need to add insults to their discussion knowing full well they do not do this in an actual real life discussion? You can almost tell just who is real and who is fake just by the way they carry themselves in a online conversation. So, is this rage mentality some sought of fad that the losers in life are trying to make popular or something?

Internet by far.

And I live in a family of politicians.

Arguing on the internet is a lot easier than arguing in real life. I hate getting involved in arguments in real life, and I just stay silent most of the time. On the internet, however, I don't care if I'm involved in an argument. In fact it is kind of fun.

with this question, the internet wins hand over fist.

vast majority of the time you have anonymity and because of that you do not have to be polite and civil. As evidence i'll point to the comment sections on any website ever, Youtube, Yahoo news, all of them, almost without fail.

in public there are social (and sometimes physical) reprecussions for speaking your mind. Even without that, there is an intensity that comes with having to face your opponent that does not really exist online.

Internet. It's hard to be a complete a**hole to someone when you have to look them in the eye. Would you call someone a cvnt to their face? Would you abuse their religion or politicas when you have to sit there face to face? Not nearly as likely.

On the internet definitely, but when just considering the discussions I take part in, it's about equal. I don't really argue with people offline. Most of the time, they are family, friends, or business associates that it's not worth ruining a relationship with. I don't have any online relationships that I care that much about.

The internet is the only answer. Face to face confrontations and arguments involve a huge amount of tension that doesn't exist across internet connections. At least not with the same potential consequences.

Aggravate someone over the internet, and you'll have to listen to them whine or make hilarious threats that they can't act on. Aggravate someone in person and you might have some actual trouble on your hands.

Internet hands down. It's easier to be anonymus, plus other factors like: being able to type a post and reread it to make it good, look up facts before replying (though it seems very few try this :P), etc.

Well people on the Internet are more open to talking about things like politics and stuff with total strangers. In real life, politics, religion, and other stuff are stuff you really don't talk about with people who are strangers.

Hopefully in the not so distance future we will all be as open and honest with each other in public, at least we will know exactly who and what we are dealing with. Take co-workers for example. The fakeness sometimes can be torture to witness. People smiling in each others faces (having decent and pleasant chatter), then talk about them behind their backs. One has to wonder if /when the future changes will it be for the best, what will happen when the office buildings turn into residential quarters and all forms of biz is handled over the net. As far as forums go, i know some people like to act the ass and some take their posting serious ( i can respect that). But in some cases its hard figuring out why people spend so much energy getting upset with people they don't know. Is the majority of people really that p-off, where is all this blind hatred coming from? Life just cant be that bad.

Internet by far, hiding behind a monitor does wonders for some folks.

In real life i'll just call it as i see it, argue with me and i'll argue back like i would on the internet. But people seem to honestly reel it in because theres likely to be more repercussions but meh if someone argues with me i'll argue back and push my point the same as i would on here or anywhere else.

I honestly live by the words, look out for yourself, dont care what others think and if you feel the need to speak up then do it.

Real life, of course.

Arguments on the internet, I can shut off with a mouse click. Not so with a real-life person like say, the wife for instance. There's no shutting her down. Motor mouth.

I can argue on both the internet and in real life, just that on the internet, I have more time to think about/revise what I'm saying lol.

There's more arguments on the internet because, people can pretty much have topics come at them easier, or they find the topics themselves, where in real life, it's just random, unless you want to start something yourself.

Internet of course, no need to be decent when there is no physical threat (unless you somehow know that person personally)

although I generally speak in person , more or less the same way I speak online.

Internet.

I am more argumentative in real life though.

I've learned not to argue with people on the internet...
