http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-24059901 So the Japanese are very angry over this satirist cartoon which appeared in a French newspaper"Thanks to the Olympics, sumo wrestling has become an Olympic sport" I think it's in incredibly bad taste. This isn't like making fun of someone's beliefs (like the Mohammed cartoon), it's making fun of the aftermaths of a disaster that killed nearly 20,000 people. It's truly disgusting. So what do you think?JustBeYourself
It's "Thanks to Fukushima", not "Thanks to the Olympics".
And yeah, in poor taste.
Right yeah typo. Thanks to Fukushima*[QUOTE="JustBeYourself"]

I'm not Japanese so of course I don't find it offensive. I think it's in horrible taste though. Also, that's not what the quote said, TC.

So what?
So it doesn't involve something abstract like a belief but death on a massive scale. Making fun of dead people ain't funny.[QUOTE="JustBeYourself"]This isn't like making fun of someone's beliefs (like the Mohammed cartoon), it's making fun of the aftermaths of a disaster that killed nearly 20,000 people. I find that commentator's curly blond hair offensive Yes the cartoon is in poor taste though I doubt it was the cartoonist's intention to just offend people. Perhaps a reminder of the fukushima situation that is hardly reported these daysEJ902Good point, the cartoonist probably didn't deliberately try to be offensive.

I'm confused. What was wrong with what he said? The fukushima power plant radiation that the cartoon is poking fun at has NOTHING to do with WW2Meh, people are too sensitive these days. If a s***y comic in some French paper actually upsets anyone, they need to set some priorities.
meh, it it is a political cartoon. Â The Japanese should be thankful it is even reminding the workd about Fukushima at all.
As for the joke, well, the joke is on the rest of the world, considering we will be reaping the side effects of the radiation, not just Japan. Â Once that crap get's mixed into the ocean's current, it is only a matter of time before it is world wide.
