I think people need to find what gives their lives meaning instead of trusting other people to do it for them. It's easy enough for most young folks to reject what they're taught and "rebel," but they're usually more destructive than constructive. ie. "Christianity is a waste of time, religious people are morons." It's really, really important that people don't just get rid of something that doesn't have any meaning to them, but that they replace it with something that does.
So, no, not at all. I just try to pick up all the ideas I can from all relgioins/cultures, and if I like them, I use them.
Though, I guess we all follow our culture to a great extent, whether we realise it or not.
I don't really have a religion. But I do own a kilt, so I guess you could say I follow my culture. :P
well, i believe that if there is a god, not nessacerily the christian god, but maybe one of the other thousands of variations, that he wouldnt be so evil as to send us to an eternity of hell because we didnt bow down and follow his religion, yet we led a good life. seems fishy to me. my best guess is that there probobly isnt even a god, and that when your dead your dead, so i tend to focus on the now instead of the maybe.
Not religeous and most people from Europe and North America don't follow an old culture if you look around in a city.
If atheism counts as a religion, I follow it very strongly.
As for my culture... Well I'm British, and I'm not a chav, so no.
I pray in bed before sleep for protection over my property, to give thanks of my property, and a nights rest without ill dreams. When I do this though, I just speak and hope someone is listening. I don't go to church or read a bible. I think you'll have your place in an afterlife no matter what name you call 'God'. I do use lessons from other religions that are universal such as 'Karma'.
As for my culture. I use things that make life easier I don't care where it's made from and I wouldn't be against buying a car that isn't American. I'm an American Soldier and I swore to protect the president and constitution, but I joined for my own personal gain like everyone else. Mine for a prerequisite to becoming a NYPD police officer.
I'm pretty much dead set in my religion. I make offerings of milk and flowers to my altar of Dawkins every day, and I pray for the atheistic trinity's guidance.
