Sometimes....

I live in Vancouver...The downtown scene is O.K.

Actually...nevermind...i hate downtown Vancouver. My town is full of imbeciles who think they live in hollywood or something. I don't know where all this ego has come from.

I'm really not a fan of DT Vancouver either. I've been there about 10 times or so in my 6 years of living in White Rock, which is like... less than an hour away from it.

Downtown Seattle is amazing as long as you take the bus so you don't have to worry about parking.

Occasionally, yes. It's kinda cool to see buildings older than the country they stand in, so I suppose I'll go for the sight seeing aspect. On the down side, one way streets suck.

I live in Paris and my uni is next to Boulevard Saint-Germain and the Champs-Elysées is just a few stops from my home using the subway. So yes, I do spend relatively a lot of time downtown.

I never go downtown. Here in Raleigh, NC, everything is focused in the suburbs, not downtown. You could drive in downtown and come out the other side in about 5 or 10 minutes. There are a few restaurants and bars, but not many. Mostly government stuff and museums. I don't know whether to classify NC State as being downtown or not. You could drive to one side of the campus and be downtown, but then drive to the other side and be out in the middle of nowhere. The only worthwhile thing to go to downtown is the Krispy Kreme (one of the first ones to open, they serve them right out of the oven). Everything you need to do here is in the suburbs. Sports (NHL, college sports), entertainment, food, schools, etc.. This means you don't ever have to go downtown, but you have to drive everywhere.

I lived in Toronto for 8 years and going from North York (where I lived) to downtown TO was a big difference. Almost felt like going to a different city altogether. But since I moved from Toronto 5 years ago, North York has tall apartment buildings growing everywhere now :(

The nearest "true" city is Madison (WI), and the downtown is actually really easy to figure out. I agree about the irritating pay-to-park aspect TC

it's alright sometimes, i guess. though there are definitely bad parts of my downtown, which is Atlanta :P takes me about 25-30 minutes to get there, it might take less if the I-75 traffic didn't get so damn backed up around Georgia Tech.

It is pretty easy and fast to get there by subway. Besides, it is a great place to buy stuff, so I do go there often.

Downtown for me (back where I live and where I don't go to school anyway) is a good 15 minute drive, where there's some hipter art galleries, coffee shops, bars, restaurants, and small venues. It's actually kinda nice.

Is it me, or do the first 2 sentences along with the topic title sound alittle dirty... Anyways, My downtown is Phoenix, Arizona, and it's only like a 10-15 minute drive, and its usually not too busy. I've driven around there alot, so I know it well, so its not bad.

I live in a town of 40,000. Downtown consists of about 10 blocks.

However, the good news is that:

A.) its a rich area, so the restaurants and food are good

B.) its a college town, so there are a good number of bars

C.) there is a really, really good pub downtown

Downtown LA has it's moments. I like going to The Standard ever now and again, but I hate Club Elevate. I always get molested by some woman in there. All in all, Downtown L.A. is a good place to be is you want to drink, dance, and probably meet some strange people.clayron

I stayed at the Standard a while bac - I liked it there. Bit quirky if I recall... That was the Hollywood one though not the one downtown...

Anyway, downtown in Melbourne is............... well I don't even know where downtown actually is. We don't have a downtown. If we're talking heart of the city, then its great - lots of quirky bars hidden away. Is that downtown? Ho hum.

I hit up downtown almost every weekend. I either go downtown in my own city, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and sometimes West Palm and Hollywood. Basically any city from from Palm Beach County going south has a worth while downtown.

Am I the only perv who thought this topic was about something else? :?

DRAGONPIECEZ

No. That's instantly where my mind went.

I'm in Austin. Downtown is nice here. The nightlife is great, and it usually isn't too congested.
