Yup and yup - have traveled alone as well so did a lot of dining/ movie going alone then = but its good because sometimes you meet new people that way.
Both. I love watching movie in theaters alone and eat in fastfood or restaurant alone. But of course I'm going out with my friends sometimes but I just prefer to watch movie or eat in some places alone.
And after all of that^^^^^^^ I submit that in 2008 I had one of the best experiences I have ever had in a theater, ever. A group of 10 or so of friends and acquaintances went to see the The Dark Knight on opening night and I could describe it as magical. The crowd responses, the movie itself and our sense of mind numbness was sublime. Just perfect.
I can enjoy a movie with friends too. :D
I'm usually alone 98% of the time.I don't have friends,and I don't have family around.It's the way it is.
@micha_93: I've eaten alone in a restaurant during lunchtime when I get tired of typical fast food.
As far as seeing movies alone, I've done that many times. Usually when I was bored out of my mind and didn't want to be stuck inside my house.
I've gone to the movies alone a few times, and I didn't notice a difference between going alone and going with others. I don't talk during movies. I've seen others going alone as well, mostly truckers.
As for eating out, I do it a few times a week - though mainly fast food. Some of my co-workers aren't available because they're busy or have stuff to do, so I just grab a bite to eat and surf the web while my hour is up.
i go on lunch by myself like everyday but ive only been to the movies once alone. i didnt feel comfortable so i probably wont do it again.
I used to go to the movies alone all the time. Back then I didn't have a giant tv with surround sound but since then the only decent theater on this side of the county has closed. Besides between the cost and the hassle of having to drive that far it's just too much of a hassle. Never was much for eating out alone unless it's fast food.
No, not particularly. I've gone to music shows by myself multiple times because of the niche appeal (going to see Cult of Luna by myself) but if I'm going out to dinner or seeing a movie, it's definitely something where I'd want to bring someone with me.
I *almost* saw Mad Max at IMAX by myself but it would've been a bit of a splurge so I decided to save my money instead. I don't think there's anything wrong with doing things by yourself. There are times where I've invited people out to movies and in the end I wished I just went by myself.
Every once in a while I'll stop by BW3 on my way home from work, if the Mrs. is going to be late, and eat some wings and have a beer by myself. That's pretty much the exception though.
Nothing wrong with dining alone, or movies. I kinda enjoy it, its a free feeling. Especially since i'm normally surrounded by peeps at work, and home. Luckily for me i live in SF. So if i get away i normally hit up one of my fav sport " The Split Bread" over by the Metreon Area, or Jullian's. Chug a few beers, and a movie afterwards. Normally one or two friends come with, but at times i've done it all myself. Its interesting to hold up conversations with people who are traveling from all over the world, since its convention town there. I talk to much, so i normally end up talking to people in line for the movie. Doing things alone, nothing wrong with that, when your mature enough to not feel the need to be with.
One thing is a yes,and no to the other, eat out's a yes...movies are a big no...usually I only eat out on my own if it's a fast food restaurant, for higher profile dining...it's an exception, because I can't pay all of the dishes there.
For movies...I don't want to know too much about it,because i'm not that crazy about films since it bores me more often...even if I wanted it,the movie choices are the toughest part...no way am I going to waste my precious $4 cash for a stupid movie choice.
I've been doing that lately, and I prefer it sometimes. When I'm with a group of friends (or even with my boyfriend), sometimes it's difficult to focus on the movie or the meal.
It's kind of embarrassing to me how society views the act of dining out alone as unorthodox. We live in such a couples obsessed society that the very act of eating alone is bizarre.
For anyone's who has ever done it, you know what I mean when I say you end up getting the pity stare from strangers, lol.
Do you occasionally dine out or see a movie alone?
dining never
movie yes but by lack of a friend that wants to see that movie as well.
Girlfriend/boyfriend is different, always seem to miss some part of the movie...
@micha_93: Hmmmm Interesting, never been in alone to the movies myself but I better try it out some time and see if it causes me to concentrate more :D
Nope, I tend to go with the Mrs or a friend and have never gone on my own. I would happily do so and even go abroad alone but I'd rather socialise if the option is there. My Mrs thinks it's odd when you see someone out on their own but I don't really think anything of it.
I stayed at a rave once when all my friends left early and that's about the nearest thing I've done. Met loads of new people who I may not have socialised with otherwise and had fun.
All the time, I actually prefer to go to the movies by myself, no having to worry about scheduling or finding a movie everyone will enjoy. I eat out by myself a lot to, I usually bring my Kindle and read while I eat and wait for food.
I'll go to the movies by myself if I REALLY want to see the movie. I would've gone to see Mad Max Fury Road by myself but friends wanted to see it to. Only movie I've seen by myself is Thor.
I went to the movies by myself to see Terminator Genesis and it was great. As for eating I'll go with my nephews and brother but never by myself. Or even sometimes I go to the movies with my brother and nephews if its a movie that they want to see.
I see movies alone but that's because I have literally no friends. Well, I do but they live very far away. I don't mind, and if people wish to stare it doesn't bother me. Sometimes I wish to have someone to share it with, but that's just life.
Dinner I don't because I have a phobia of public eating.
I don't usually eat out by myself, I would prefer to get takeout or delivery if I am alone, but I love going to the movies by myself. I have alot of close friends, and go out on the weekends and all that, but I enjoy my alone time and have no problem going to see a movie by myself.
