Columbine Shooting! 4/20/99

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5Kemo0yIAU&feature=related

If you would skip to 5:11 and some dumb kit pretends that he's dead then makes a run for it from under the table but he grabs his bag:| Dude, in a sitiuation like this **** your bag and just get your ass outta there! Nothing more important, IDK if he had a million dollars in that bag. Your life is more imporatnt!

These guys are sick how they search for survivors and slughter them:evil: These kids even discuss what seconds to count to; to kill theselves. Note: You may not want to watch at 9:20ish because that's when they off themselves...

I go to a school of 2000+ kids so my options are very limited if this ever occured in my school:(

What are your plans if this ever happned? Do you think you would make it out ok?

Oh yeah don't forget to look at 5:11 on the vid;)

lol.

a school shooting is pretty much impossible at my school. everything and everyone is monitored by security. we cant even go into the school until first bell rings (or if we have some business with a teacher or a morning club meeting). if someone tried, they might get a few people with good aim.

also, im waiting for the internet tough guy whos gonna say "lol id just kick their asses since theyre cowards"

I definately wouldn't sit there like many of the people who are put in that situation. I'd either run like hell, break a window, or get a group to stand up against the shooter, 30-40 people can take down one person in tight quarters quite easily, especially if he's not paying attention. In some school shootings the shooter even left the room for a bit and the people didn't do anything to escape...

I go to a school with about 400 people. It's small and nobody has the guts to do anything. Even if they did, people can't keep quiet in our school. There's always a slight chance it could happen, but everything is a possibility. If it's my time to go, it's my time to go. I'm right with God, so I've got nothing to worry about.

I dont go to school so I dont need to plan for it, let alone schools here are hardly ever 1 building (my high school had about 8 or 9 single level buildings) doubt anyone would be able to keep a successful parameter

I'm seriously scared to go to school sometimes. :( I wonder what drives these people over the edge to kill innocent students. Those students have families and everything. Then there was that shooting in Finland and some kids were burned really bad. ='( God...my heart is really, really with those people that had to go through terror like that.

I dont care if you have a God or not, its human instinct for self preservation so theres no way you'd stand by and let them shoot you. This isnt an attack on your beliefs at all, I respect them but to say you would be fine with it is just a bunch of BS.

I'm not going to college, so I don't need one. And where I'm going, if someone managed to even GET a weapon there, they would be shot dead by about 200 or so military trained marksmen.

Are you going to prison?

No, The Naval Training Facility by the Great Lakes in Chicago, which is a massive US Navy training facility. With armed guards.

And my Aschool will also have armed guards, as it will most likely be part of a military base.

Military bases are pretty safe places to be, you know, with virtually everyone, even the accountants, being certified, trained soldiers who have armories only minutes away and MPs crawling everywhere with constant radio contact guarding one facility.

I would of course make sure the teacher locked the classroom door. maybe MAYBE if I was on one of the inside hall classrooms, one without a window, I peak outside and around the corner then everyone run to the class across the hall quietly as possible (of course that's a maybe, i don't want to get shot peaking around the corner). Obviously lock that door, barricade it with a filing cabinet and teacher's desk desk. Try to break a window, I'm not exactly sure what I would use for that though. Once it's broken, i'm not exactly sure if I would jump from the second story or wait until police arrived to help me down. I probably would, broken legs is better than dying. Of course all of this only applies to upstairs classrooms since the downstairs once have little glass stained windows that are like 8" x 8" and 6" thick. So in that case I would just stay in the class, check for noises, check around the corner then run for the back exit. i don't know.

Why did you have to post that video? Now I'm gonna be pissed off and sad for a while all over again...

I remember seeing the live coverage of the story when it happened and then when the movie 'Elephant' aired on HBO, god awful times, the movie sent me through a range of emotion like I've NEVER experienced through watching a movie, maybe because it was based on real life events and brought back memories. I got teary eyed and just mad and I mean MAD... Horrible atrocity that those families were put through, I feel so much for those affected by those or any other demented killers.

I've ran similar scenarios over and over in my head so many times that I would think if I were in a position near the gunmen I would try my best to grab for them or if not try to protect someone else from being shot, if they were like they were in the video interpretation, get them focused on me just so others might have a chance for escape. When I went to school as a student I would think "RUN!" however, now that I'm a little older and work at schools (I do maintenance at all the schools in my county), so if this were to happen I would do my best to try and protect the students if at all possible, I just hope I'm never in the situation to have to make that call.

I agree completely. What really makes me angry is when I read this in my serial murder textbook:

"As clever as the boys wanted everyone to believe they were, they were not undetectable. At one point, Harris recalls how his mother watched him walk out of the house with a gun sticking out of his gym bag. She assumed it was his BB gun and asked no questions. Mr. Harris allegedly found a pipe bomb Eric had made and with him took it outside to detonate it. What's more, a clerk from Green Mountain Guns had called the Harris home to say the clips that had been ordered had arrived. Mr. Harris said he didn't order any clips and hung up. No questions asked."

I'm sure the book doesn't mean to paint the parents as accomplices, but there's something to be said for parents like that. I wouldn't ever be allowed to step 2 feet outside the house with a gun in my bag or if my parents had ever found a bomb in my room.

Ugh, sickening.

Not in high school anymore but I'll give this a shot.

I always looked around the school for my quickest possible escape route/ defensible area. I came to the conclusion that if a gunman came into my classroom, I'd be toast, nearly no place to hide. However if the shooting occured in the middle of the change of classes, I knew how to get away the quickest.

Now in college, the university has cracked down here since the school shootings here 2 years ago. (I attend Virginia Tech.) Now they know how to alert students and faculty and getting away from the area would generally be no problem.
