I live in Denver. There are a lot of gangs here, especially in the 5 Points area. Denver is in the top 5 cities for gang violence in America, along with Chicago, New York, LA, and Detroit.famicommander

You know, the small town I grew up in had a bad gang problem. The newspaper said so and they had proof that I saw with my own eyes.
The notorious gang spraypainted their name on my schools front door.
"Cribs"

There used to be a gang here that consisted of First Nations and if a white guy would walk by their "hood" at night, they would jump him. Can't remember their name.
There's also another gang that doesn't like the North side of the town so they go around spray painting their gang initials :|
Nope, we have chavs instead...jointed
What, pray tell, is a 'chav'?? I've heard that a lot from you UK folk.
There really aren't gangs in my area but there are groups of people (mostly high school kids and some early 20s) who really have no life and just deal drugs and go up to people and ask "want beef." There's also "gangs" of people that hang around coffee shops but they aren't so much gangs as just people with no lives on Friday nights who hang out with eachother lol.
I do know of people who've been shot though (people I went to school with when I was younger) so its quite possible there's some gang activity that I don't know of but I live in the suburbs so I'm sure it was just an out of towner or something.

They're like gangs but ten times more pathetic. Watch out for those that carry butter knives.
I reckon Jointed's a chav.

The UK version of wanna be thugs. Oh, and they drink cider a lot too...
I still remember the day the drive by happened at my cousin's house just across the street. My cousin got shot in the leg, and do you know why? Because he is in a gang, and now the place is covered in his gang's affilitaion. I am glad I am moving though. Hopefully his life ends one day.tzar3

I've lived in or around either downtown Cincinnati and Dayton most of my life. So yeah, you hear gunshots outside your door every night. Never had any problems with any of them personally. Creepiest it got was when I heard a bunch of commotion outside and looked. This guy comes up to my door all bloody and yells "They're gonna kill me, they're beating me with a ******* mop". So I locked him out, called the cops and watched these guys beat the dude on my porch to a pulp. With mop stricks.
This one is just kinda funny. Nobody got hurt. This guys was drunk, naked and armed with a shotgun down the street from me. He was standin on his roof shootin at cars. So the SWAT team needed to use someones phone line so they could communicate with the officers at the house. They used mine, which I thought was kinda cool.

Oh, well that explains it.
So they are more or less incompetent wannabes?? What do they 'do' per se? Other than drink cider.
Sounds kind of humorous.
I used to work construction in the ghetto area of Richmond, California.
I would be sweeting outside and find needles and dimebags.
I saw drug deals going down.
I heard a couple gunshots a few times a week.
Thats the moment I began to see that welfare = fail in many respects.
There's no way in hell there could ever be a real "gang" in Austin, Texas. It just doesn't happen.Blood-Scribe
I live in Austin, where exactly do you live?
