i dont think so, but i do have a thing with washing my hands.. we small things can mean me washing my hands 4-5 times before they feel clean. can get pretty dam annoying. Plus when i am turning things off or closing something i need to check a few times or it nags at the back of my head for example locking the door, closing gates, cooker.

I wasn't diagnosed, but some of the smallest things (like grammar) just HAVE to be right for me.

your OCD. (washing hands 4-5 timesis a clear indcator)

FierceWarrior
It is only in that area thoe, other things i have no worries over. minorily i have always thought it abit of OCD but when you see how badly some people can have it and how it affects there lives.. i wouldn't really be comfortable saying i had it for something so minor.

Eh, I supposedly have it to an extent. I just do small things, like I can only increase/decrease the volume on something in intervals of 5. All my DVDs are in alphabetical order and have to be separate from the blu-rays because the boxes are different. Same concept with TV shows and box sets, they are a different size and also kept on another shelf. That kinda stuff.

I, apparently, have ADD AND OCD. Don't ask how. I've been diagnosed with both by the same psychologists, and I've seen more than my share of psychologists.

Self diagnosis is not the way to go. Disorders tend to be exaggerated when you ask the so-called victims, especially here where OCD is sometimes defined as putting all ofyour socks in the correct drawer.

dracula_16

although some would claim that is a minor form of OCD aswell...but i wouldnt i would see it more if you put all 1 colour of socks together in 1 drawer and another in another drawer etc.

But moods that go from pure hyperness to a literal all time low is pretty bad aswell..And sometimes i get a little compulsive.Dunno what caused it but i have been diagnosed with Bipolar but its kinda what could you say oblique as it seems to be rapid in my state.

without noticing or being bothered if this doesn't work, I always put my hat on a certain way. the brand label is always sticking out the front-left corner. but I never consciously try, just I noticed one day and every 2-3 days I remember, check by feeling the corner and behold I did it the same way. Whenever I remember before I put it on, I always try to put my hat on any other way to break the habit

The thing about having "minor forms" of disorders is that everyone has some traits of mental disorders to a small extent. Disorders are just severe presentations of normal behavior. With OCD for example it's normal for a person to be anal about alphabetizing their music collection or washing their hands several times if a garbage bag leaked on them. It's not normal, however, for a person to wash their hands for hours on end to the point that their hands are raw and cracked by the time they finally feel "clean". If you want a good example think of the cleanest, most organized person you've ever known. Now go type "Mark Summers OCD" into youtube and watch how a person who's truly OCD about cleaniness and order acts like (for those who didn't know, yes, Mark Summers, the host of Double Dare, had OCD. Puts a whole new spin on the show doesn't it?).

Anyway, I've had OCD my whole life though I wasn't formally diagnosed until I was like 8 or 9 years old. Usually I get a break of a few years before I start obsessing over something again though. The worst I've ever had it was this period for three years (senior year of high school to the end of my sophomore year of college) where I was constantly obsessing over a certain possibility about my psyche (won't go into anymore detail than that). Even though I didn't have any outward compulsions it was still really debilitating because what would end up happening is that I couldn't do anything but spend entire days just arguing with myself non-stop if I truly did have a certain condition or if it was all just in my head. I loved sleeping during those times because it was the only time that I was able to get a relief. That would go on for about 1-2 weeks before I actually got so mentally exhausted that I just couldn't think about anything anymore.

As for other OC's I've had: Apparently as a little kid I used to have a counting compulsion though I don't remember that one. The earliest obsession and compulsion I remember is kind of hard to explain. You know those squiggly lines and dots you sometimes see floating in your vision? Well, when I was a kid if I blinked while one of those lines or dots was over a person or object I would then have to focus my vision on that person/object and blink three, five, or seven more times. The reason for that was that I thought if I didn't do that then that person or object would get killed or destroyed. I knew it was ridiculous/insane but I couldn't stop myself from doing it.

I also have a mild checking OC. It's never been so bad that I waste hours on end checking the same thing over and over and over, but it can still get in the way of stuff. Usually it's not a problem, but because I'm a science major it can get really ugly when I'm doing research since my need to constantly check that I'm doing something right eats up precious time and can get on the nerves of TAs and my mentor when I keep asking questions about everything. I also completely obsess over wording when writing letters and emails (it can take me up to a week to write a one paragraph email because I'm obsessing so much over whether or not the wording, structure, flow, and intended meaning are all perfectly correct).

I wans't diagnosed but I think I do.

Grammar details

I can't have one blemmish on something or I can't use it, unless I really have to.

I used to make sure things were safe around my house for my mom, but she still doesn't know. I used to make sure the smallest thing was on the stairs so she wouldn't fall we she walked down them. I made sure there was not a speck of water on the floors so she wouldn't slip, and made sure I never left knives and stuff in arkard positions so she wouldn't cut her self. I also once cried all day when I was in 3rd grade wondering was my mom safe at work.

I crack my knuckles alot

I could my steps alot

I look outside my windows alot to see if someone is at my door

When I'm playing video games I go over every detail for items and crap

I even have to do things perfectly in a video game.

Yeah I have that too, when I clean up I must organize everything, it has to look plain. No over the top stuff.

Also I forgot to mention, when someone gave me something, be it as small as a pencil I never threw it away because I thought I would kill the person who gave it to me, or make them sad, or kill some of their spirit. So I was a pack rat, still am today, I get highly emotional if I break something that someone else gave me out of fear they'll die. Needless to say I don't appreciate my own stuff, or when I give others stuff I don't feel that way.

This stuff isn't funny guys, it isn't for the LULZ. I waste time over things like that sometimes. It's the reason I stay off the net before I go to work or school sometimes(school now because I lost my job) it can get so bad sometimes that I can lose sleep, or end up being late for some really important stuff. Real OCD is not funny.

If you had OCD, you wouldn't have let that rather significant mistake into your post.

You would also have used proper punctuation in the entirety of the post, not just putting periods randomly at the end of one-line paragraphs as you did (you indicated that it was important to you because you put a period at the end of two of these, but you did not place them at the ends of the other lines).

It's because you said "I could my steps alot" yet one of your tendencies is to point out grammatical errors, it's a lot :P

Typing fast, also I went to another thread right after I submitted, basically for my self. I don't grammar police others. I would have came back to that. Thanks for pointing that out. Yeah counting and a lot. Should have been paying attention.

Yeah I'd be the same, though there are some things that I obsess over a lot more than things like that.. Even when they're perfect, I keep telling myself they're not. I'm also a hyperactive thinker and slightly paranoid, so as you can tell, those things could conspire to make life a little difficult. I have huge mood swings also, i.e I can go from being ecstatic and incredibly happy and extroverted to incredibly depressed, introverted, and feeling alone in the space of little time. I don't really understand how that keys in with the whole concept of OCD though.
