Never did. Only problem my High School had was it was an F school, liable to close down (which makes no sense, idiotic No Child Left Behind act) but what the school lacked in academics, we made up for it socially. The majority were friendly with another, no social hierarchy, no labeling. Everyone was who they were, and most people were accepted for who they were, especially in my class (Class of 2009), where everyone was like a brother or sister, regardless of your sexual orientation, hobbies, what have you. Miss the people dearly, they were what made it bearable, and I would not trade my experiences there for anything. Other schools called us dumb and so forth, but I didn't care. Yeah, it was broke, but damn if our students weren't more tolerating and friendly.

That's everywhere, i remember with my friends back in HS we would do questionable things in front of people to make them think we were gay and weird them out  My brother is a big homophone, yet he still gives me "cup checks" and grabs my rear :|................maybe there is something there that he is hiding like they say......

well, something (not someone) being gay could be seen as being "anti-man", and as a man anything "anti-man" is bad, so anything bad/distasteful/unlikeable could be construed as being "gay"

not my personal belief, but I can see how people insecure in their masculinity could use the term to pretend to be more confident.

Seriously, the only people I have known to use the term gay and its various vulgar, insulting assocated words are people I considered insecure, d-baggish, or lame.

And it seems whenever there isa guythat they dont know or like, he is instantly marked as "gay".

TheMightyHoov

Yep. That was typical "dude" behavior in my High School and not only my High School.

yep, its a teen thing. i think the majority of people use gay as a synonym for anything they dont like. i dont think it necessarily reflects what they think of homosexuals though, it certainly doesnt for me

I went to an all-male school and it wasn't that much of a problem. A lot of people were actually jokingly gay to their mates.

i think it's fairly common amongst young males, who vocally address homophobia in an attempt to sound manly

My high school was really really accepting. There was a significant number of gay people at my high school, and they really had no problems being "out." Overall the people at my high school were incredibly tolerant and accepting. There were never problems with homophobia. ...And guess where I live - in 'conservative' old North Dakota. :)t3hrubikscube

What High School? I'm from Grand Forks. Just curious.

I don't remember much gay bashing, but I graduated in 2001 so maybe things have changed since then.
