Nope, I don't have any reason to hold a grudge against a user.

I wouldn't say I hold grudges, but I'm certainly aware of how certain users post and act accordingly. For example, I think most of us have learnt to steer clear of arguments with LJS. I also have a theory, which has been proven several times, that users I really don't like end up banned.

[QUOTE="nocoolnamejim"][QUOTE="DrSponge"][QUOTE="nocoolnamejim"] If by holding a grudge you mean "do I remember things people have said in the past when I'm reading things that they are posting/saying in the present and apply some weighting when trying to determine how seriously to consider their thoughts and opinions", then yes, I most definitely do.

Yes that is what I mean.

Then yes. I think everyone does to a greater or lesser extent. If someone has a history of saying really silly things and/or making obviously bad-faith arguments or applying sloppy logic, then people tend to discount things they are saying in the present. People gain reputations and it takes a while to change a reputation once someone has it. For example, Gabu's arguments are always very sound, well-structured and intelligent. He could probably come in and post dead-drunk for about a year before people started discounting what he was saying because the things he's said in the past have been so good. Conversely, after the 100th thread started by MysteryLobster about how awful Obama was, people stopped taking her arguments seriously. That isn't a "grudge". It's just pattern recognition.

Hmm, this sounds pretty smart. I think I'll second it.

With all due respect to the guy, arguing with LJS is one of the most counter productive things you can do on this board. It isn't about winning or losing as it either swiftly descends into a completely irrelevant argument on definition of words and intents of sentences, or is a merry-go-round of opinions. As much as I admire LJS's persistence and knowledge, I've found he always takes a very neutral approach to a lot of things. Still thing he's a good poster though :P

A strange game. The only way to win is not to play. (Let's see how many people reading this are old enough to understand the reference. Rules...no googling!)

Whoa. Weird coincidence. But yes, you've definitely identified the reference source. I can't remember if that movie came up in that "quotable movies" thread a week or so back, but if it didn't then it should have.

I'll remember what some said in an argument, and chances are if I don't agree with them in that, I won't agree with them in another topic. So I tend to just ignore people, unless they think something that is insane and offensive. Like, people who think Lord of the Rings is better than Star Wars...

If you've ever entered a debate thread on a topic you're passionate about, you'll know what I'm talking about. Do you continue arguments outside of threads and refuse to reply to the persons posts in other threads in a way you would have, if you hadn't argued?

I try not to, but sometimes I can't help myself...

I do sometimes but it is a debate you should.

What's that?

Coraline is a 2009 animated stop-motion 3-D horror fantasy film based on Neil Gaiman's novella of the same name. It was produced by LAIKA and distributed by Focus Features. Directed by Henry Selick, it was released widely in theaters on February 6, 2009 after a world premiere at the Portland International Film Festival. It is rated PG by the Motion Picture Association of America for thematic elements, scary images, some language and suggestive humor.

[QUOTE="Razor-Lazor"]Coraline is a 2009 animated stop-motion 3-D horror fantasy film based on Neil Gaiman's novella of the same name. It was produced by LAIKA and distributed by Focus Features. Directed by Henry Selick, it was released widely in theaters on February 6, 2009 after a world premiere at the Portland International Film Festival. It is rated PG by the Motion Picture Association of America for thematic elements, scary images, some language and suggestive humor.Jandurin
