I write on GameSpot like I normally would on an IM application/Facebook and what not.
I usually try to be formal - I don't particularly like using slang and lazy typing like 'wut r u up 2?' lol. Also emailing Professors often has taught me to stay far away from that.
Eh, for the most part. However if I make a **** up, I'm really not that interested in fixing it. I really don't care how anybody types on here, as like as I can make out what their saying, it's all good.
Not really formal in my eyes, I guess. My posts are mostly how I would reply in real life. Including the ellipsis, I always have very small pauses while I am speaking to someone.
I type using correct grammar and punctuation for everything, from messages on here, to Facebook chat and even when I'm texting people. I even spell check before I post things most of the time. The way I see it, it's not hard to do and making that little bit of effort generally makes you seem more respectable. I didn't always do this though, looking back at my posts from when I first joined GS is quite funny, my spelling, grammar and use of punctuation is just appalling!
That's just writing properly, granted i didn't used to do it, for long posts though it's a necessity so i tried to make sure a wrote with proper grammar and structure. It's just second nature now. Writing formally is a completely different thing, it's very rare to see someone finish a post with "your's sincerely" and slang is common place.
I typically type how I talk, most of the time. Because I really don't care how I sound. I'd also like to mention that I do use proper grammar because it gets my point across better than if I didn't use it.
I try to be as grammatically correct as possible, because personally I have trouble taking someone seriously who can't be bothered to use proper English. I don't mind a few errors here and there as everyone makes them, but if they're frequent enough that it's apparent that the person is not even trying I'll quickly skip to the next post. Especially if someone doesn't understand the concept of paragraphs. I won't even begin to read a huge wall 'o text.
I write posts properly. Once your typing skills are pretty decent, writing out a message with apostrophes and commas really isn't that hard. It's only limited by your language skills...
I have a way with words that occasionally manifests itself in my every day speech. If ever any of you get to know me well enough that I send you a birthday card, it will be the happiest day of your life, I guarantee.
Yes, in a sense. I'm able to use better [and more complex sounding] sentances through text because I don't have to worry about speech mannerisms like studdering or mispronouncing things.
I write the way I speak, with proper grammar even if I use some slang. I can't stand people misspelling words or worse, using the wrong word to try and convey something as it completely changes what they are trying to say.
