Yup, a guy that was convicted of murder used to work at my work. He had been there for 15 years on a work release program, but for some reason we let him go. Let's just say, it was unsettling at work for the following few weeks after.
I know one kid who drove drunk and on heroin, killed someone in a fatal accident. I think he has 15 years... I know another person who missed a court date and ended up sitting in county jail for 3 months and finally I know another kid who stole a car and ran from the cops in it. probably will get a long time. Thank god I stopped hanging out with these kind of people....
Had a neighboor when I was little that had been in jail for about 20 years because he had gotten so angry to see his girlfriend back then and some other guy getting busy in their bed, that he had gone out, took the largest tool he had in the garage..a chainsaw, and killed them both with it. Something he had told my dad he regret and was the dumbest thing he had ever done both to himself and the families of the two he had killed.
He was actually a rather nice guy, helped his neighboors and arranged a couple of large BBQ parties with the entire neighboorhood invited.
Last I heard he had gotten married with a single mom with two kids and moved.

How... how do you get only 20 years for that? O_o The maximum prison sentence in Norway is 21 years, He got a year shorter due to good behaviour. Thats just wrong. Your country needs to fix its justice system.
Do that in the U.S and you get life in prison. Or Death by lethal injection. (He proably would've gotten death for that)
Yeah, when I was homeless I lived in this church and I actually made friends with this guy who went to prison for 20 years for armed robbery (I think it was 20, I would have to ask my mom for exact time)... He was a goofball, but you could tell sometimes that he had a really bad side to him. He wasn't crazy or anything, he reminded me of a young kid at times even though he was in his 50s. I think I was around... 13 or 14.
My old neighbor was a drug dealer, thief, arsonist and enjoyed torturing animals (i.e. setting horses on fire) and he was sent away for about a year. All this and he was only about 16 at the time. :S

Only a year...even though he's only 16 that is pretty sick and deserving of a longer sentence.
A longer sentence would probably exacerbate the psychotic tendencies. The kid needs heavy therapy.
