LOL no need to worry, you definitely won't be seeing any dog meat in dumplings unless you go looking for it.
That stereotype is horrible, anyway. You'll find better things to erm...eat...in China.
I do, but I like the traditional food (Peking duck, Kung pao chicken, soup dumplings) more then Americanized Chinese food.
As a Chinese-Canadian living around Vancouver, I'm no stranger to real Chinese food. What exactly constitutes Americanized? More often than not every restaurant, save for those classy, ten-course-expensive places, has stuff like sweet and sour porkchop, honey garlic ribs, or fried rice included somewhere in its menus.
chinese food is good but it will neverbeat authentic chinese food. which can only be found in china.
imo, chinese food is only good when you get it from real chinese people. for example near where i live theres this place that sells shu mai(a dumpling thing of some sort), pork buns, fried donut(Chinese style) and they make incredibly good chinese food. i wonder how come it tastes so authentic and delicsious. thats when i figured out that it was opened up by real chinese people(from hong kong) and they've been working for a while. i also realized they are nominated for top 100 best chinese food in the area. really good stuff. however, i can't stand shanghai style food(no offense) because my "grandma" took my family and i to so many horrible places, i wouldn't want to get near those restraunts...ever.
I love Americanized chinese food and eastern chinese food is pretty good, but I'm not big on food from other parts of china.
