They are ok. The plots tend to be bad and the acting just as terrible. Also, I cannot ******* stand the frightened people who do stupid things like slooowwwlllyyy open a door when they are being chased or take several hours to turn around to look what's behind them!:x The genre is very stale IMO.

FFCYAN

Ha, I agree, that's why I don't like most nowadays.

Most have crappy/cliche plots (goast and/or demons, random serial killer, experimental monster, etc), usual below-average acting for 90% of them, always annoying writing ("OMG LET ME FREAK OUT AND SCREAM INSTEAD OF FINDING A WEAPON/RUNNING AWAY"), and most importantly... a lack of horror. So no, not really.

A good horror film is fantastic, I like almost any film genre, as long as the movie is GOOD. It's a shame these days the "horror" usually just means "lots of gore".

Horror is my favourite genre. I'm a UBER horror fan and I love every one of its sub-genres, especially 80's-90's B-movies.

I've seen and appreciated so many movies from all over the world that I can't possibly have ONE favourite.

From the top of my head, I have utterly enjoyed:

  • Audition
  • The Orphanage
  • Dark Water
  • Killer Klowns From Outer Space
  • Street Trash
  • Poltergeist
  • Suspiria
  • A Tale Of Two Sisters
  • Zombi 2
  • [REC]
  • Let The Right One In
  • Evil Dead Trap
  • Ebola Syndrome
  • Noroi: The Curse
  • Paranormal Activity
  • C.H.U.D.
  • Dr. Giggles
  • The People Under The Stairs

........and so many, many, many, many more.

Love 'em, even though I'm relatively new to the genre. I'd say my favorite is either The Descent or The Silence of the Lambs.
