We're doing it in English and i hate it. However it is quite interesting when you go into the poem and study it in more detail and find out information you didn't know before.

Poetry is fun to write. It requires no forethought or revision.

I love it :)
Some stuff sucks, at my school, we study poems from this book just called: "Anthology".  Some of the poems in it are really good, some are just crap...Simon Armitage is in that book, he's a really good poet, "About his person" is my favourite poem, written by Simon.

I really like T.S. Eliot and Edna St. Vincent Millay a lot; The Waste Land and Renascence both give me tingles.

No I dislike it a great deal and I have a very low opinion of its importance or difficulty in execution. Yet for some reason I have quite a few friends who write poetry on a regular basis and demand my input on their scribblings. Most odd.

I don't like most English poetry but I do enjoy the classics.

In all seriousness, I have read books that were interesting. I had a hippy teacher back in HS, who loved the work of Jack Kerouac and the whole Beatnik generation and had us read his book On The Road and Visions of Cody and I was very intrigued by his work and life. I thought it was cool how he was a part of a sub-culture in the 50's that was giving birth to a whole counter-culture a decade later that would rebel against society and change a lot of things and the way people saw life.

No, not on my own reading anyway, but I like to watch shows that explain and theorise (with some clout of credibility) art/poetry, but taken on their own it's just words and squiggles to me.

I think people tend to over-analyze poetry and see it as more of an art than it really is.  Over time, it has become less rhythm and rhyme based and in turn has become easier and more widely practiced in my opinion.

I think that perception is largely driven by the fact that "sensitive" teenagers who have learned a few big words slap them down on paper and call it poetry :)

I love it! Mostly dark poetry though. Katy Towell is pretty good http://crookedsixpence.com/.

It really depends. Some I do, some I don't. But I only like reading it out loud.
