I dabble in a little now and then but it's far from my favorite genre.

I'm curious, what techno do you specifically listen to?

Stuff like Daft Punk or old school Prodigy is tolerable, but most of the time, I can't stand it

Yes, more than ever.

really, are they still called raves? are their current rave trends? like blowing whistles, sucking on dummies, wearing white gloves, white masks on back to front, Dr Seuss hats, oh lets not forget...... glow sticks!

The raves I've went to, people usually wear pretty much all white, or bright colours, to reflect the neon lights. People still have the dummies, mainly girls. The glow sticks will NEVER DIE!!

Well techno might not be the right way to put it, but by techno I mean any genre or artsist such as:

Benny Benassi

Daft Punk

MSTRKRFT

Aphex Twin

Justice

DJ Tiesto

Pendulum

Chemical Brothers

Infected Mushroom

And if so name your favorite group.

BlackHawk2599

I'm not sure if you know what techno is exactly.

Daft Punk and Justice are "House electro"

Dj Tiesto is "Trance"

I like some songs by SGX, and that's about it. Techno has a lot of potential, probably more than any other genre, but unfortunately most of it is generic loop meshes.

I was using a blanket statement. There isn't really an artist that defines themselves as simply techno. Anyways Daft Punk is really just house music, electro house would be something more along the lines of The Crookers. We could argue semantics all day, but it's just easier to label it all as techno for the people who just aren't that into it.

I know my techno :D

Chemical brothers are more like Trip Hop.

Aphex Twin is IDM.

Daft Punk & Justice are the same.

That's the problem though...a lot of people hear techno and assume it's all the same. IMO Daft Punk, MSTRKRFT, and Justice are much more to my liking than Aphex Twin and Tiesto. I'm sure it would be the same for non techno listeners as well, especially when it comes to dancing. Whats it matter as long as they enjoy it? I feel that if you enjoy what you're hearing what exactly does it matter what genre/sub genre it is? Let them find out for themselves if they really like it.

No I meant those that don't enjoy it. I see your point but I just think being a little more specific works out better. I was the same before when it came to rock...I assumed it was all about screaming at the top of your lungs. I was obviously wrong, and to this day am glad that my cousin was able to point out the difference of sub genres. Now my two favorite genres are Rock/Electronic (used to be hip hop in high school before). Oh and what do you think of those artists i posted earlier? :p

On another note, I like your taste.
