Is it true that they move your overtime hours to the next week?As a consumer, I love it...
as a former employee... it was hell on earth...

Indifferent. I don't shop there unless it's a last resort though. It's not even about the store's ethics or anything, I just don't like being there for some reason.

Actually, they make you burn your over-time... they make you come to work on time, than sit around and not clock in until your over-time is gone... which puts you behind on your days work, which leads to more over-time... accure too much over time, and they fire you...
Also, they understaff... like you would not believe... I worked overnights in a SuperCenter, and 15 people would have to re-mod and restock an entire store in 4 hours... not possible, BTW, which was the point... they could use that as an excuse to fire older employees making more money...

I'll agree with taking money form the community part but you're working at Wal Marts don't expect to be paid like the CEO.
I love Walmart. I go there every other week. I love their relatively cheap prices and the grandiosity of their stores.
I really don't enjoy the experience of shopping there.
-The carts usually have at least one wheel that screeches loudly as you push it or won't turn so that the cart doesn't roll straight.
-Things that I want to buy are constantly out of stock.
-The shelves are often disorganized.
-The stores are huge and crowded so that it takes twice as long to get what you want as other stores.
-Their bread has a weird texture I've never seen anywhere else.
-Service at the deli counter is rediculously slow. When the time value of money is considered I believe that I'm actually losing money here.
-Depending on the time I shop the lines are very long and the checker is usually very slow (I would be too for that amount of pay).
-Their beer selection sucks.
When I was in the US it was like a different world in Wal-Mart. You can buy literally anything in there even guns which was a massive culture shock to me. I do like Wal-Mart it's the hub of all peoples needs.mikegtfc
actually, a lot have stopped stocking firearms. but yeah, I remember those days, they always had tons of Ruger 10/22 and an ok selection of cheaper 12ga Shotguns. They still sell Ammo though (for considerably less than "gun stores").
the exception is black powder rifles, this past Deer season they had a small selection of them. but the process of buying a BPR is different from a normal rifle.
on the topic: eh, I consider Wal-Mart an evil necessity. the prices are good, and thus I get alot of food and other random hoursewares there (and bullets). If the local markets would catch on to how horribly inflated their prices are, and lower them, I'd be more inclined to shop there.
and as far as it being ubAr crowded . . . Well I always go there at 1am to avoid the lines lol
I buy some stuff from Wal-Mart when needed. Sometimes, it is the only place around and I have no choice but to shop there. I will agree with some posters here, there are never enough people at the cash registers, no matter what the time of day it is. I have been in a Wal-Mart at 2 AM and there are lines at the few registers open at that time.
Call me indifferent. A store is a store is a store to me be it Walmart or one of the stores in the mall who cater to the snooty.
they are constantly dustmopping the floors and in the winter I get zapped when I touch even a can of vegetables. I'm glad the gas pumps are far away.
I get stuff at walmart.com and have it dilevered to my local walmart. I got this computer there and I was able to pay it off in one year without interest.
No.
I find that their employees take their jobs too seriously and are usually pansies who need to grow thicker skin.
[QUOTE="fidosim"]I (briefly) worked at Wal-Mart last year. Wasn't the horror story that other people have described. The management was pretty messed up in certain respects, though. Nerd_ManWassup mah brotha. How dem Walmarts treatin' ya, yo. Lulz, i'm guessing you work there? What department?

pretty much all retail pay you the least as possible. My friend at staples been working there for 5 years and only makes 75 cents more then minimum wage .
[QUOTE="Nerd_Man"][QUOTE="fidosim"] Lulz, i'm guessing you work there? What department? fidosimFront end. I'm so sorry. I was a lawn and garden/pet supply guy. Unlike most people in retail, I don't mind dealing with customers. I'm pretty good with customers as I'm usually talkative and exerting a positive attitude, so most of the time people are appreciative of my service. So no complaints.
I don't like shopping at Wal-mart. First of all, it's crowded with annoying kids running around. It also takes a long time to get assistance from the workers since many other customers need help. The last time I went, it took me like ten minutes just to get a PSN card, and then I had to wait in a long line, since there's only one lane in the electronic section. They wouldn't let me pay for the PSN card somewhere else.
Because of this, I go to Target instead. Not a lot of people shop there; the max number of customers I've seen there was like twenty, compared to the hundreds at Wal-Mart. Also, I don't have to ask the workers to get a PSN card. I can get them myself!! Also, if you do need assistance, all you have to do is press a button and someone will come.
Oh F--- no. THe one by here is horribly managed, and they always have too few check-outs open, which is why I always hate it when people think they can get in and out in 20 minutes, because that reason alone means you have to stay in for at least 20 minutes.
its hell on earth shopping and going there but the prices are amazingly good...... am i spouse to join you with a whole i hate walmart speech? lol i hate the god damn place and yes its damn near a monopoly but it dosent look like things are gonna change in the future so whatever just shop and when you get the **** cart and bump into some majoy **** holes and the traffic is unbearable just think of the money you saved then it sorta goes away
