Had them for 4 years, 2 years in elementary school for aligning, and then in high school another 2 years to actually get them straight. I graduated high school with braces on.

Supposedly. its an option for me, but I don't want them so I'm not going to wear them.

Have had them for about 2 and a half years. Getting them off this June and am ***ing happy about it to. When I first got them I'd get pain on the sides of my cheeks cause the wires were always not cut enough. Eventually my skin inside my mouth built up resistance so it hasn't been as bad but every time they tighten the damn things it feels like my teeth are going to shatter for a good day or two.

Sure they've made my teeth straight but it's not worth the two years in my opinion....unless your teeth are like horrendously crooked. Not to mention food always gets stuck in them so you constantly have to brush.

I have never needed braces apparently. I could probabaly used them, but my teeth are fairly straight naturally. Just some crowding on the bottom teeth and a slight gap in my two front teeth.

I had them for almost two years. It wasn't so bad and you get used to them. I feel like it was worth it because my teeth are my best feature and the only feature about which I really feel confident.

i had braces for a few years in middle school and high school. the first week i had them on was horrible, my teeth hurt so bad. i always hated getting them tightened every month, too. i've had them off for awhile now though, so glad i don't have them anymore.

but TC, when you get yours off, whatever you do, just make sure you wear your retainer, or else your teeth WILL shift.

No. I guess I was lucky enough to have my teeth grow in straight. And that is a good thing because I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to stand having braces in my mouth.

Yeah I hate them. They make your breath smell and make you smile like a monkey.

I had them for two years and got them off two years ago. Looking back, they don't seem like a hassle, and they definitely paid off in the end. My teeth are great, despite the scars in my gums. But those two years were full of minor things that I forget. Tightenings hurt always. Loose brackets. Poorly cut wires. And so on. Just make sure you do whatever your ortho tells you to do. If he gives you something like rubber bands or the mouth guard thing (both of which I had to wear), make sure you wear them enough. It's a pain, but you get your braces off much earlier if you do it. And when you do get them off, wear your retainer! Even after two years, I still have to wear mine every night, and if I skip a night or two, it is noticeable that my teeth shift because the retainer is tighter.
