[QUOTE="GreenmonsterBLS"][QUOTE="pastro243"]I dont have a gun and I dont need to, I have a collection of katanas, and though I know how to use them, I dont have them because I need protection or something, just because I like them.
Anyway I think its stupid to have one for protection, why?:
1. Your family might be in danger with it.
2. If a criminal sees you with it then for sure he will shoot you, and probably he shoots better than you do.
3. Many people have bullets and guns in different places, which is stupid for obvious reasons.
4. The criminal will take your gun and, congrats, he will have a new one.
What u should do is stay unarmed and cooperate, and when u have the chance kill the guy with your hands, which is not a problem fopr me

First off, not everyones as badass as you and can kill with their bare hands:roll:
1. Not if you are responsible with it.
2. No, they definitely would run. Oh and who says criminals are good shots?
3. Again, not if you are responsible.
4. How's that now? If youre standing there pointing a gun at him whats he gonna do walk up to you and take it?
Most ignorant thing I've heard all week.
I agree its ok if u dont have family, or live alone, 1.but children tend to find anything(and u know about the shootings in school), thats why people keep the ammunition in another place. 2.Yes, u can have one if ur great with it and u are trained so that u can react in the minute they surprise u in ur home(they wont be knocking the door), but many people arent trained, and 3.usually they dont go alene so the chances that they will kill u are bigger than if u dont have a gun in your hand.
About point 4, I mean that they will take it after they kill u.
4.The ignorant must be you, I dont know what Bush told u but it shouldnt be normal that people go everywhere wit guns, learn from other countries, its hard to get guns there, but they dont need them.
1.I will use Columbine as an example:
The shooters didn't just find the guns just laying around, they had someone of age buy them for them. In other cases like VA TEC, the shooter was able to obtain the weapons legally on their own.
2.Most of the time when someone breaks into your home they are there to just rob you, not kill you. In which case they don't think you are home and arent expecting anyone to be there. So they won't have a gun.
3.Yes they do usually go alone. Maybe in pairs but is doesnt matter because they will both run if they see you with a gun. Why? because the don't want to get shot. They won't try to fight you like you seem to think.
4.It is proven that in countries where guns are illegal the gun murder rates are higher than in countries where guns are legal and available. For example I will use states like Maine and California to prove my point. (yeah they arent countries but the same principles apply).
In california the gun murder rates are unbelievable. Many people die every day from being shot there. The gun laws in that state are some of the most strict in the country. Now, in Maine, the gun laws are significantly more slack. Pretty much everything is legal here. More people die by gunshot in California EVERY DAY than people die by gunshot in Maine EVERY YEAR.
And this has nothing to do with Bush it has to do with the SECOND AMENDMANT which states that everyone has a right to bear arms.
lol no i don't one one yet
but, to pastro, i know what you mean by children finding their parent's guns. When i was younger(about 6-8?), my dad hid ammunition is the back of his gas station, but the gun was in the front of the gas station (snack area or casheir). I just found them both one day while i was scavenging through his stuff.
I have yet to think how my dad would defend his gas station with the gun and ammunition in two very different and far places :?
I own some hunting rifles 30 ought 6., .222, .22, 300 winchester magnum, and hand guns: .45 semi auto .33 revolver, 12 gauge pump action shotgun, 410 pump action shotgun.
But I only carry them when hunting or at the gun range. I would probably carry the .45 if I knew I would be traveling to a "bad" area of a city.

You dont want the gun and ammo in the same location. If some a-hole found the gun then right next to the gun was the ammo that would be a bad day for your dad.
