Originally, the cinema, but as my home setup got better and movie-goers became the most inconsiderate pricks on the planet my view has completely changed.
I swear to God, I will break anyone's neck that can't control themselves from touching their Blackberry for 2 hours, it's really the worst thing in the world (overly dramatic I know). My last 10 experiences have all been so consistently awful that the only REAL reason I'll even go see a movie in the theatre is because it's the only way I can see it and waiting 6 months for a video release is not acceptable.
Cinema. My home set up is pretty much non-existent. I could happily live without a TV and have done before. And my PC is far from an entertainment set up.
I admit though that incosiderate pricks can really ruin a movie. Ive just decided to take a zero tolerance approach to them. If someone wont shut up after ive asked them to I get them kicked out. The looks on peoples faces when the attendants come to kick them out is sometimes priceless.
Genia

Worth it!

Worth it!Oh,im sure. I have just had a bad experience with buying tickets/reserving seats before. Thats what happens when the local theater is in a industrial park next to one of the worst parts of the city.
Big screen + audience + awesome sound + huge dark room + any movie = Bliss.Im_singleI'd like cinemas more if they DIDN'T have audiences. >_>

I haven't been jaded by any bad movie theater experiences yet, and I find I enjoy the movies more on the big screen with popcorn in hand, I want to go to a movie now...
The cinema, thankfully there are two near where i live, and the better one is usually quieter. It sells good food, it as an epic atmosphere, and the sound systems are decent enough. When watching a film with lots of sound and good visuals, the cinema is the easy choice. Its a shame the cinema isnt Digital
I want to go to IMAX at some point, as well as the O2 cinema in london which is supposed to be very big. Ive been to Odeon Leicester Square (digital cinema, dts surround, large screen, massive seats in the royal section and loads of legroom) and i loved it.
one thing that annoys me though are the people who treat the cinema like its their home (ie shouting, talking to other people etc), and people who check phones all the time annoy me too.
Home, by far!
1. I don't have to pay ridiculous prices for snacks.
2. I can find alot of movies on DVD for less than the price of movie ticket.
3. I don't have to deal with annoying idiots disturbing the movie.
4. If I want to go to the toilet or get something to drink/eat, I don't have to miss parts of the movie.
5. I can sit comftorably on the sofa we have and im not restricted to just one posture! Not to mention, I won't be bothered by the person taking up the arm rest.
6. I don't have to leave the house.
7. I can use my phone and I don't have to turn it off.
8. I don't have to buy a train or bus ticket to get to the cinema that is closest to me, and if I could drive I wouldn't need to pay for petrol.
9. I can watch the movie whenever I like.
10. If I don't feel like watching the whole thing right away, or I fall asleep during it, I can watch it again without having to pay for it again.
The only time I will ever go to the cinema is when there is a movie I REALLY want to see, most of the time i'll just wait for the DVD/Blu Ray realease.
