For the longest time I didn't read at all. I'm really not sure why. I used to read as a kid a bunch but just completely stopped for about 10 years. I changed that this year. I started reading again. I'm currently halfway through The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy(which is phenomenal) and I plan on reading Brave New World next. I really do enjoy reading and I finally overcame my procrastination.

Good choices. May I also recommend Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance?

@sweetenerh: It depends what you like. Jane Eyre is my all time favourite book. Or if you want a great vengeance tale, The Count of Monte Cristo is awesome. So many to choose from!! Enjoy. xx

@tlclark: I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone for your responses. Please do keep responding, as your answers are fascinating.

I also wanted to let you know I've updated the covers of my PNR duology to a more commercially acceptable version.

I had to read a lot of crappy books in my school, so reading never really got me. I did readf some books that are linked to games, like the StarCraft books and I do play a lot of games with a lot of text, but I'm not really into books.

Yeah I love reading! But only e-books nowadays. I want less physical stuff in my life.

Usually read at least an hour a day. Mostly fantasy. Star Wars and Forgotten Realms are always in my rotation. Non SW and FR authors I like are Brandon Sanderson, Patrick Rothfuss, Brian McClellan, Django Wexler and a few others that slip my mind right now. The original Conan books by Robert E. Howard are awesome and need to be read by any Conan fan. The Arnold movies really did not do justice to Conan.

Besides books I have 6 long comic boxes that I need to read through before I transplant them into my already read collection, which is about 35 regular size boxes right now.

Your cover does look Link is trying out for the next Twilight though. If you're going for the romance crowd that may not be a bad thing.

I got back to reading books this year. Starting with some HP Lovecraft. Really, really digging his stuff!

I'm using a tablet to read ebooks as I don't want to make room to store real books in my apartment.

Don't normally get a lot of time for reading, but if I get a bit of leave it's one of my favourite ways to relax. I like reading through lots of different genres, normally Science Fiction or Crime, but I do mix it up every now and then. I like Stephen King a lot, but lately have been reading a fair bit of Bukowski.

I like genre literature, not a fan of literary fiction. Unfortunately I can't ever seem to find time to read

Trying to get more into books. Currently putting time aside for my pastor's book. He's trying to address numerous social, economical and cultural issues in NYC. And how the bible applies to things like gentrification.

Am currently reading Dune by Frank Herbert so slowly I have renewed it 4 times already. I think I should buy it...

I do read books. A lot to be honest. Mostly fantasy. R. A. Salvatore is my favorite author. I guess i'm in too much love with Forgotten Realms universe. On the other side, i read a lot of computer since books since I'm working in development sphere. A lot of useful books can be found here though: http://jatapp.com/android-application-development/

So, I was discussing my book cover, as some other people decided they don't like it.

A lovely person said the guy on the cover looked like a grown up Link (from Legend of Zelda). Now, I was obsessed with that game when it first came out. Maybe some of that's come out?? I commissioned the artwork, so had a say in the design. Oops!

It led me to wondering what books gamers read.

The opinion seems to be that books about games are rubbish.

But, if there was a book with sorcerers, magick and dragons in, would you read it?

Mine does have those things, but also includes romance.

So a) what books do you like to read (if any)

b) would mine appeal?

I'm really sorry if this sounds like an advert, but I am honestly interested.

Hi Here are my answers:

A) First I do read books, I read mostly fiction. Currently I am reading Splintercell: Operation Barracuda and Metro 2033

B) I would look at the back of your book to see if I was interested. It sounds interesting but the cover might appeal more to women than men I think.

Still loving all these answers. So varied <3

It's really interesting, seeing how people's reading habits change over time.

I read mainly ebooks too btw. It's cheaper, and space saving. Just makes sense.

Time is a major factor. It's a curious one; what do we fill our time with? I know that after staring at a screen all day (writing/editing/promoting), my eyes need a rest from close-up work. So I switch to staring the TV screen!? :-/ This also helps switch my brain off, which whirs all day long.

Thanks for being so candid. And for not being too mean about my 1st cover ;-)

@tlclark: I just realized your book title is also the title of a Def Leppard song.

Coincidence or are you an 80's child who was subliminally influenced?

@heathen75: OMG, how cool?! Yeah, I was an 80s child actually.

So, the title was a subliminal Def Leppard inspired thing, and the original cover was subliminally Link from Zelda. Oh good God, if I go back through the story, what else will I find? ALFF?? Sabrina the Teengae Witch? :O
