I love a good nap, me. Mind you, I say 'nap', but I usually end up sleeping for 2 or 3 hours or more.
Isn't a nap usually 2-3 hours? I can't see it being any less than say even an hour or so. Naps have turned into sleeping the rest of the night, but not usually. Usually it is just like ~2 hours.I love a good nap, me. Mind you, I say 'nap', but I usually end up sleeping for 2 or 3 hours or more.

I take a nap on occasion when I am not working and sometimes when I am if there isn't anything going on and I can do it without the client walking in.

For me, a good duration is somewhere between 90 minutes and 2 hours. I don't like to go longer than two hours, because that's excessive. And i won't nap for less than an hour, because that doesn't help. If I nap for less than an hour, that isn't even long enough for me to feel rested. That's just makes it so that when I wake up, I'm even more tired than I was to begin with.
But 90 minutes to 2 hours is right about perfect for me.
I stopped napping when I was... 8 or even younger. I was a very energetic child but didn't expend energy all at once. Not until about a year ago did I start taking naps again. I guess it probably also helped that I could sleep 10-12 hours a night when I needed to, and now I barely ever get 8 hours.
When you take a nap it is only supposed to be about 30-45 minutes and during mid afternoon. Longer then that is counter productive.
Naps are actually counterproductive. Your brain cant go through the 4 stages of sleep + REM and it messes up your brain's sleeping pattern. Its why i get a monster in the middle of the day instead of napping.
Not consciously, no. I don't tell myself I'm going to take a nap and do it. Occasionally it helps right after lunch, while I'm watching TV -- I'll phase out from 13:00 to 15:00-16:00. Or when I'm exceptionally tired, though then I'll more than likely just SLEEP (as in, start at 15:00 and wake up at 22:00).
