It's what the Word of God says, regardless of what you or I think about the issue. God's Word is perfect and God is sovereign over all of human history. He gave that land to Israel because Israel is God's chosen people and because it is His will. As a Christian, I rejoice over God's sovereignty and support and love His people, Israel. I hope I one day get the opportunity to visit it.

So, in addition to being a Biblical linguist and a math expert, you are also a genealogist? Impressive resume. Those dirty, backwards and righteously oppressed Muslim and Christian Palestinians are certainly not the descendants of Abraham - only those who moved from Europe to Israel are!

I'm not a genealogist. I simply believe what the Word of God says. The Scriptures that tell us about God's covenant being confirmed with Isaac (Abraham's son through whom Israel came) include Genesis 17:19 and 26:3.

If people would read the Bible and abide by it, it would greatly simplify the discussion about Israelis and Palestinians and who gets what land. God made the following promise to Abraham (from whom the people of Israel came). Note that Abram was Abraham's name before God changed it.

"Then Abram fell facedown and God spoke with him: 'As for Me, My covenant is with you: you will become the father of many nations. Your name will no longer be Abram, but your name will be Abraham, for I will make you the father of many nations. I will make you extremely fruitful and will make nations and kings come from you. I will keep My covenant between Me and you, and your future offspring throughout their generations, as an everlasting covenant to be your God and the God of your offspring after you. And to you and your future offspring I will give the land where you are residing-- all the land of Canaan-- as an eternal possession, and I will be their God.'"-- Genesis 17:3-8 (boldface added for emphasis)

Abraham had several children-- however, God's covenant was passed down to Abraham's son Isaac, from whom came the people of Israel. The land of Canaan referenced here was given by God to Israel.

There is no such nation as "Palestine." That land belongs to Israel, and to Israel alone.

I'm a Christian...well an agnostic Christian. But c'mon....god or God has nothing to do with this ordeal...

But didn't you read the Bible? GOD WILLS IT!!

On a random note, one day I will scream that during sex.

So, then you have no Biblical basis for the existence of said state, just the name of a state in a geographic location consisting of the descendants of Abraham? OK.

I don't care for Israel, I think we need to stop sending them aid and let them fend for themselves, they're strong enough now. Israel and Iran are going to eventually go to war with each other and I would rather the US not get involved in that.

No, let's blow it up. After we find out what it is and where it's located.

I can imagine Patton would say something like. "There's nothing finer than a fine jew boy." Because supposedly he was the most politicallyincorrect silly son of a **** to walk this earth, a true American. He was the Duke Nukem of the20th century.

I've heard Palestinian leaders for years calling for "Israel to be driven into the sea." In the event that I'm ignorant of Israel making similar claims, can you show me where an Israeli Prime Minister or government official has called for something like that?

Or can you show me an instance where, after a relatively 'calm' period, Israel launched an attack?

(Please note that I'm not being sarchastic. Both the above questions I'm asking sincerely).

We should indeed base politics off the Bible. The Bible is God's perfect Word. It contains all we need for living our lives. I and other Christians don't stone adulterers today because that part of God's law is no longer required to be kept by Christians.

Finally, the Bible was not written by Jews. It was written by God, using human authors. The best analogy is this: God is the Writer, humans are the pen. God preserves His Word faithfully.

MathMattS

Isn't that a bit of a contradiction? Saying God's word is perfect and all we need...yet there's some of it we don't need to follow.

EasyStreet

How is this a better solution than giving them land in Palestine? It's creating the same problem as modern Israel (displacing a "native" people from land they lived on for generations in favor of another ethnic group), only this time you're plopping Jewish people in the midst of several groups who had just been forced to stop killing them in massive numbers.

We need to keep supporting Israel, but we need to put some better strings on our aid. Otherwise, there will never be real peace.

Not really its not anything against jewish people or anything but they really don't. Britain basically just took territory from Israels Islamic neighbors to create Israel. And all Israels ever done is give those countries the finger

Why would htey need to make such claims? They control everything and have every one on their side.. THe Palestinians are desperate, this has led to them to going to extremists in powers.. If you use examples like this, I am sorry you just haven't read up on the issues.. Furthermore why is it always a black and white issue.. Neither side should be supported unquestioningably.. IS that so hard to understand? The US should not unquestioningly support Israel as they have been doing for decades.. I would be all in favor of supporting Israel.. If they didn't violate international law from owning nuclear weapons, controlling and settling on the west bank to their numerous human rights violations..

Your oversimplfying the situation furthermore cutting off support from Israel doesn't mean supporting the otherside.. In the end of the day I support the people who get hurt on both sides.. I don't support the leadership of either group... And what I am seeing right now is innocent palestinians are getting harmed far more right now with the blind support the US gives to Israel to do as they please..

I don't like how the situation was handled, considering the land was stolen from other people. But if we kicked out the people living there then it would be the same ordeal all over again.

I support Israel's right to exist, and their right to prosper. The notion of taking land from another is rather silly in my eyes--welcome to Earth. Do you expect every country to stop existing now? Let's step back into reality, I say.

Do I support Israel's right to exists as an independant nation? Yes. Just as I support Palestine's right to exist. A two-state solution is the only solution in my view. Oh, and Israel needs to abide by the borders it agreed to. And the US needs to cease its unconditional support of Israel. And before the TC accuses me of it, no I am not anti-semetic (I even once dated a Jew), and no I do not want to see Jews put into camps or driven into the sea.

I personally don't care. If they beat the competition, they've come the closest to having rights to exist, whatever that is. Social darwinism at its best.

Yes indeed, the reality of life is one group of people...

Stop right there. One group? Try millions of groups. The world is not a playground with children; humanity has a history of violence deep resolved into our very own understanding. The land the Israelis received was British at the time, and before that Ottoman, and before that... Persian... and before that... ect. It goes back thousands of years. Should Mexicans revolt in Arizona, Southern California, Texas, new Mexico because they were once Mexican held by their ancestors? And now "Palestinian" young men think "their" land that was taken from them before THEY even were thought of? Please.

Please.

There is no please, one group, the Zionists are systematicly conducting state terrorirsm and ripping apart what's left of the Palestinian lands. I got enough Palestinian friends to know what I'm talking. They still got the deeds to their land that they got kicked out from. This whole crap about the world is cruel and we just need to accept doesn't fly. Especially not when one country who preaches democracy and peace with his mouth is funding the zionist state terrorism with their money and vetoing every resolution put forth.

If you think that Israel doesn't have a right to exist than you should think the same about every modern country. Every country today was born out of a revolution, takeover, or some other dispute among people over land and power. Most of the big countries are a result of war and death.

I think Israel has a right to exist, but I think they should do more to respect their neighbors in Palestine.
