The more I hear about it the more I dislike it. The whole premise is jacked up and they are going about it the wrong way anyway.

I'm not crazy about it. I'd rather just have single-payer, but I realize that that is not exactly politically feasible at the moment and that health care reform is going to have to be achieved incrementally, and also that single-payer isn't the only way to have universal health care.

*shrug* Depends on how it turns out. Whatever happens it will have to be incremental and the health care system will not survive with the status quo.

I want a better healthcare plan that does gradually eliminate the private sector. This one does.

Anything that works against the free market should be thrown out (including some of the bills passed the last presidency)

free market doesn't exist. :P we don't have much choice in insurance. heck it's them that reject ppl that want policies. Profit should be out of the health insurance industry. make them all non-profits like the swiss.

If poor people want free healthcare they can move to a state that has it. Federalizing it is all around bad.

No it won't. Would you pay if public healthcare was available as an employer?

aren't there tax incentives? also wouldn't this provide competition for the healthinsurance to lower it's rates or offer more for the same price? this would be still used as an incentive to prospective workers.

I think it's a terrible idea. Why should we have to pay for heath care that, A. We might not even use. Or B. Use something the government doesn't want to use, I mean if it's such a good plan that every one will benefit from then why won't they use it too, simple, they know that government run stuff never works as well as the privet sector's stuff, a good example of this is let's say you want to send something in the mail, so you bring it too the USPS and watch as they carelessly trow it in the back room. Let's start over, now you bring it to UPS, and watch as they wrap your item in bubble, wrap place it in a box, and send it to the back room.I don't know about you but I want my package to be delivered by UPS, not the badly run USPS.

My point is we should leave it the way it is. So no I do not support Obama's heath care plan, it's a bad idea.

I to am a fiscal conservative. I don't like this bill. sadly I don't see any bill coming up that will solve or try to fix our problems. We're paying more per capita than any other nation and we're 37th in the world on health statistics. that tells me our system isn't working at all.

BATTOSAI76
who says healthcare would be as bad as USPS? did you know that Medicare has higher satisfaction rating than the average private health insurance? and that it spends less percent on administrative costs on average as well? You might not like the Obama plan( i don't either) but leaving it as it is, is stupid. We're getting ripped off. We're paying more per capita than all other nations and we're only 37th in health stats. and unless those other countries above us we don't even cover everyone. costs have to be better controlled in this country. so the "public option" is Obama's attempted at that. How would you propose to control the costs?

No, I don't. I think poor consumerism will continue, no matter what you try to do. How you break that trend, is by passing the cost on to the consumer. But, then everyone is up in arms about that. Catch 22.

Too soon to say. There's about six of them floating around right now. Check back with me when we're a little closer to the final bill. As a general principle, I don't support any bill without a public option similar to what pretty much the rest of the civilized world has. Ideally, I'd like to see Single Payer, but I'll settle for just a robust public option to compete against the private insurers making record profits while premiums and the number of uninsured Americans skyrocket.
