Only if aliens invade.
And it must be badass aliens like this
Not those that look like blue colored hairless cats.
Only if it's a sexy government, which promotes naughtiness and give us all very long leashes (with studded collars!)

If its already difficult for one man to control a nation how would it be easier for one man to control every single country... no I don't think it would work out, that one government couldn't possibly be able to control what happens everywhere over the world
But, if they are all in the same country, then, they hate themselves? No.they would hate us as a minority.[QUOTE="grape_of_wrath"]No. I live in a country which was based on the notion that everybody else hates us.and, from experience, they do.magicalclick
[QUOTE="grape_of_wrath"][QUOTE="magicalclick"] But, if they are all in the same country, then, they hate themselves? No.they would hate us as a minority. Minority is always being treated badly, even as small scale as school. But, if everyone is united under one country, at least there is not large scale war anymore. But, I don't think that would ever possible until alien "invade". Yeah, if they don't invade, that still wouldn't happen. Of course there would be war. the only difference would be that it will technically be a militiamen 'civil' war.which is bad for me-since a professional army is all that's keeping me alive.magicalclick
If we made contact with multiple civilisations of intelligent extraterrestrial life, then the world would have to increase the power of the United Nations, but otherwise.... no
A kind of parliament with a selection of representatives from each country taking a few seats in said parliament; I'd support that, while at the same time individual communities have select levels of self-governance; just with an overall world government makes the most important decisions, specifically those dealing with space travel, colonisation and what not.
This is looking a while into the future, but I feel it's ultimately beneficial for the entire human race for this to become a reality in some form.
Please, no. We already have enough problems with the European Union as it is, so a one world government would be a total disaster. The nations in the world have such a varying amount of interests that it would be impossible to even satisfy the majority of them, let alone all. Moreover, it would be like in the European Union: the large, powerful nations would be in control, and smaller countries would just have to see how things are decided for them.
As an internationalist, I wouldn't mind it at all if there were more unity amongst the various nations of the world. But I'm not sure if a one-world government is the best way to go when it comes to international unity, seeing as I don't think that the world is ready for a one-world government just yet.

You have made the right step towards liberty, Comrade. Together, with all other Comrade's willing to lend their hands to our noble cause, we shall break free of our oppressors velvet gloves of sin.

Why is Europe in there?
It would be difficult. Looking at the United Kingdom, for example, they are already extremely insecure about being in the European Union, thinking that they will lose their sovereignty and other such nonsense.

European Union? That's mainly an economic agreement. It is clear we are heading towards one, with the European union, North american union, europe, world medical institution, world court. But are you pro one world government or not?

North American Union? Does not exist.
Europe? Is a continent.
World Medical Institution? Nothing comes up on Wikipedia or Google, so I have no clue what on earth you're talking about.
World Court? Tell me what is so sinister about an institution to deal with disputes between nations or international law?

Mainly an economic union but there is much more to it. The nations of Europe are becoming one.

Okay. So that means that the TC has... one thing on that list that has any kind of relevance.I like the idea, but it'll never work. Maybe in a century or two.supercubedude64
When the events in Star Trek become reality. :o
