I chose answer four, because the Bible says, "There is none righteous: no, not one".
In God's eyes, we are all sinners in need of a savior. Christ, and Christ alone, is the only difference that changes our eternal destiny from bad to good.
What are your thoughts on the subject?
Please note: The poll question is the main focus of the topic, but other subjects can be explored, as well.
Just please try to keep the discussion Christian in nature.
God bless,

I'll find out when I die, won't I?

And I am a Christian, but the fact of the matter is that we just don't know, and we never will.

I dunno. Righteous is going out of your way to help others, right? I think there are good people everywhere if you look. I also don't think a soul is forever locked to being good or evil. If that were the case, the winds would never change.

G'day Crush. Do you intend to do any evangelising in this thread?

My answer is that everyones eternal destiny is the same. Everyone will die at some point and remain dead regardless of what kind of person they are or were. As I understand it though Christianity does indeed say that people will recieve different destinies according to their works, different layers of heaven and hell etc.

Look at these verses:
(John 10:27-29) - "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: {28} And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. {29} My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand."
When we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, we have eternal life!:) Nothing can separate us from Him if we are His Children.

Do you think that works will grant you access to different levels of hell and heaven. Maybe one level for the rapists and murderers and another different level for the liars and blasphemers.

Yes, but a Christian who becomes an athesit will not be saved.

No one has any way of knowing what they will truly do in the future, therefore, until the very day you die, you will always have that chance of losing your faith.

I've seen it happen, and it's happened to me. It's a sin that unless reconciled, is ultimately unforgivable.

I became a Christian again out of personal choice, so I think for the moment I'm good, but I don't know what will happen in the future, so it's better to be wary than think you are untouchable.

I disagree to no end with this view (you're not the first one to say it), that basically means any murderer/rapist who decides to "accept christ as his saviour" will get into heaven, and any atheist who helps others, contributes to the community, etc. will go to hell just because god is so full of himself he doesn't want anyone who won't vow down to him to be near him...

There is a difference between claiming to be a Christian and literally being one.
Christians are people who accept Jesus Christ into their heart and repent of their sins, thus becoming Children of God.
(Romans 10:8-10) - "But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; {9} That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. {10} For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Not really, anyone bad rapists/killer or atheist etc and say "Hey God I've change" but that doesn't mean that they have truly changed, they must mean it from the bottom of their heart and yeah, God knows your heart

I think that's irrelevant. They have an exclusive belief of heaven, therefore, they should be the only ones that receive it. Why should someone who doesn't believe in heaven receive it?

It's funny how people think that you can go to heaven because you're a "good person". Why don't more Christians grow a pair of cojones and say that everyone who doesn't worship Jesus is going to hell? Because the atheists, the same people who don't believe in hell, might be offended?

So yes basically. It seems like the correct answer for a Christian is option one not option four. Revelations 20 mentions judgement based upon works which indicates different destinies in heaven and hell.

Rev20:12"And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works."

Rev20:13"And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works."

[QUOTE="FallofAthens"]I picked option 4. Because good and bad in the end are irrelevant, black_cat19

Good and bad are irrelevant. What is relevant is forgiveness. Yes, a murderer and a rapist can get into Heaven, while the good-natured atheist can go to Hell. But the bad deeds of the murderer/rapist and the good deeds of the nice atheist are irrelevant to the forgiveness they ask for, and thus, receive, in the end.

In all technicality, every human on Earth is a murderer/thief/liar/adulterer/sexual pervert/what-have-you by Biblical standards (including Christians), so like I said, good deeds and bad deeds mean nada.

I say no, because I don't believe in destiny. If someone is supposed to horrible things then morality is meaningless since the horrible things are supposed to happen and you can't condemn someone for fulfilling their destiny.

[QUOTE="Crushmaster"]
...If a person who claims to be a Child of God becomes an atheist, I do not believe they ever were a Child of God.

As if God didn't create atheists.

"Child of God" is used here to mean Christians, not creation of God. Ever hear Christians refer to other Christians as "Brothers in Christ"?

Do you think that works will grant you access to different levels of hell and heaven. Maybe one level for the rapists and murderers and another different level for the liars and blasphemers.

It may, but I don't believe in traditional Heaven and Hell.

Fair enough. Would you say that there is a strong biblical basis for a layered hell or does it say elsewhere that it is one in the same for everyone who enters.

*slaps self in head* why did I even answer, I'd knew i'd get dragged into an argument. :P

So, are you saying we should not forgive people who do these things, even if they are, really, truly, deep down sorry and not just full of themselves? I know where your coming from, believe me, I don't understand that myself and am looking into it.

I wouldn't know. The afterlife isn't one of my specialties. I think there is enough basis for both.
