Yeah, definitely. I know a good number of people whose lives have been improved via religion.Aquat1cF1sh
Same here. I think religion can go both ways positively or negatively depending on the individual.

If religion is nothing but lies and superstition then what does it matter?

Of course it can be good, it can also be bad.
Depends on how the person interprets it and how he acts to it.

It deppends. If people don't become extremist and start blowing stuff then yes. Otherwise, no.

Obviously yes. Some, and I think probably most, people don't have the ability or level-headedness to do what's best for them. For those people, religion can provide a moral basis than generally leads to good things for them. Of course, the religion determines that too. The point is that it "can" be good.

the problem is that you dont choose religion. religion chooses you based on your parents, where you live and your intelligence.

No, There is absolutely nothing religion can provide that can't be obtained through more effective and less intellectually damaging means.

It can give them hope when they are about to die, but nothing more. There are also much better alternatives to give hope to people before they die, that don't have the side effects of religion, like violence. Religion has done nothing but plague this planet, luckily it is beginning to die. If you notice, religion is slowly decreasing in countries where education is encouraged. This shows that religion primarily relies on something similar to brain-washing, teaching it to young kids who do not know how to make decisions.

if it helps them to lead a better life for themselves and treat others well, then sure, it's good. but if people get all radical about it, then it can be bad.

Yeah it can be good for a person, but for people as a whole religion usually is not good.

Religion has as much value as culture does. You can make an argument for or against either of those things.
