Yes, of course they will.
Humans are all ready developing the technology that will make this possible. The biggest problem will come if we ever mass produce such machines. IF we leave them limited or in small numbers we have nothing to worry about.Â

They already have, man. Ever see that documentary called The Matrix? They got like this whole ****ed up computer system (like friggin' WINDOWS, man!) that like makes us see stuff that ain't there and ****. Theokhoth
Woah... dude...
If machines ever become intelligent enough to be sentient beings, I've never quite understood why everyone always thinks that they would be hellbent on the destruction or enslavement of humanity.GabuEx
Maybe they would see the destruction we cause to the environment, and the better it would be without us. :?
(Just thought I would throw that out there :P)Â

I dont think they will be happy about the fact that they were made as a tool to serve humanity...

Humans haven't caused much destruction to the environment at all; that's been all the doing of machines. :P

Yeah, but we can make them happy.;)

I dont think they will be happy knowing that they were programmed to be happy.Â

What about Megaman? He is a sentient robot with feelings and he is very nice and fights for what is right. He doesn't desire destruction at all. :|

What are you talking about? He picks on old scientists and destroys all of his creations. Sure Dr. Wily looks evil in the game... but once you get to know him, he's a pretty nice guy.Â
The machines already have enslaved us; we were just too apathetic to notice. Our society has become more impersonal, as our friends are those we interact with via online social networks and virtual realities, and we forgo the real world for digital fantasy realms. We're all adicted to the distractions they provide us and dependent on them for the tasks they make so much easier.
In case some of you might be wondering, no I am not the Unabomber.

You played Mass Effect, right? You know how it worked with the Geth. We treat machines as, well, machines. They work 24/7 with no real compensation besides the maintenance that allows them to work more. It's basically slavery. That's fine for a machine, but it won't keep a sentient being happy for long.
Granted, I would think that we as humans would be smart enough not to sentient-ify something with the ability to cause trouble. Plus, if a sentient machine did get bored with its work, I think it's "trail of destruction" would be more along the lines of it just stopping its job, as opposed to enslaving humanity.
So, as long as those freakin' Reapers don't come along and screw with everything, we shoudl be good.Â

Well, for starters, we'd probably be asking for it. We actually are sort of jerks to machines now, and I doubt we'd treat them any differently if they actually had feelings. Â

If my computer started crying when I yelled at it, I think I'd probably stop. :P

That's absurd, I most certainly am not gunning to recreate Saren's legacy.
