I don't wanna bash or offend any conservatives/republicans here, but I want to ask you guys if you think there is still a chance for Mittens to pull off a victory. I consider myself an independent voter and the things the Reps just turn me off. I know it's not all reps that are bad, but I hear/read more stories of right-wing nutjobs saying dumb things. It's almost as if they're not playing the game to win, but if they do win then, "hey cool we won!" The liberal swinging media is also to "blame" for the Reps pretty much guaranteed loss in November. It's a lot easier to pick apart what Reps say and use it to make them look bad. The media is playing a HUGE role in making sure Mitt is not president. So are there any reps/cons out there that honestly and truthfully believe the Romney-ryan ticket will beat Obama? What factors are out there that make you think your vote is pretty much nothing this early in the campaign? 3qh0o7.jpg This pic may be a bit exaggerated, but to me, there are enough people (+51%) that would understand where it's stemming from and say "Do Not Want!" You don't even have to be republican to see it imo, but wherever I turn, the people on the right seem to be a bit too confident that Mitt will win. They usually deflect and say Obama will lose the election because of the economy. But, the economy isn't even that bad. Who knows... Ron Paul might take the whole thing away from both of them.

Of course they have a shot at winning. It's not likely though. It's almost impossible for the current president to not win re-election anyway.

I think they still have a shot but they aren't doing themselves any favors. It was a very weak field from the beginning. Given the state of the economy you'd think they be doing much better than they actually are.

In it's current form? Absolutely not. Maybe when the reasonable and more moderate members take back they're party from the crazies though I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Republicans have come to represent everything that's wrong with social conservatism, while democrats have come to represent everything that's wrong with fiscal liberalism. My voter card says Npa, but I'm voting Mitt Romney because the economy is the most important issue staring us all right in the face.

There is no way they have any shot i'm doubtful Romney/Ryan will win. I'll personally be voting Johnson because Obama will ruin us.

It doesn't matter at all. Either way we're still going to be involved in two Middle Eastern wars and counting, either way debt and unfunded liabilities are going to continue to explode, either way we'll still be fighting prohibition, either way we'll still have the PATRIOT Act and the TSA, either way we'll still have terrible immigration laws, and either way we're still going to be arbitrarily stealing from the general population in service of favored special interests. The only thing that changes is which special interests. To answer the topic, Obama is going to win.

I think they have a chance, but more because Obama is at best incompetent and at worst evil than because the Republican party is really all that great. Everyone should just become a libertarian and not try to screw the other side over politically or economically.

Their main talking point is the economy. They WANT that to be the talking point. But instead, we keep hearing all these Palin-level gaffes so people get distracted. The problem is that their gaffes reveal a lot about their platform because we keep seeing the same issues pop up.

Edit: I am always amazed at the lack of support for libertarianism given that it allows both the left and right to do most of what they want; it just doesn't let them use the government to force others to do what they want also.

I'd rather that both the Democrats and the Republicans lose. Obama is terrible, and Romney is awful. This two party system is the bane of American politics.

No matter which candidate wins, America loses.

you don't technically have to win 51% to win. GWBush didn't win the popular vote in 2000. It's also possible to steal elections.

I also think people are underestimating just how much money Romney has at his disposal. He's already richer than the previous 8 presidents combined, times two. He steamrollered his way over all other Republicans in the primary. That was all bought and paid for with targeted hit ads in key constituencies. Did 51% of Republicans want this guy?

Obama is being out-fundraised, and i get this overwhelming sense from my liberal friends that he is destined to win against Romney. That sort of prevailing attitude makes me people NOT show up on November 2nd to make the important vote.

so yeah i think there is a chance he could lose. I don't care what the polls say, if people are not gonna show up to vote it does not matter.

Implying Mitt isn't moderate. I think they have a chance, although they do keep shooting themselves in the foot. Not that Obama hasn't done that multiple times throughout his presidency, but in an election year it can make a big difference. I'd prefer the Republican party to focus their talk on the economy but that's never the case these days. It's all just social issues which affect a small portion of the population directly.

The republican candidate, Barrack Obama, is currently leading in the polls. The other republican candidate, Mitt Romney, is second. either way, they win.

. The momentum is shifting towards Romney in key states like Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin with Romney in the lead now. Couple that with energized Republican electorate, and depressed and dissatisfied Democrats, could spell trouble for Obama. Polls now show a statistical tie. And that's with Democratic poll takers outnumbering Republicans in most poll samples. Reagan was behind Carter in 1980 election and Reagan win 90% of the states. Liberals were puzzled then, they will be just as puzzled now, when Obama loses this November. You can quote me on this.

No and I hope not, they have gone to the deep end of the pool.. There isn't a single platform idea that even looks remotely moderate or even rational.. Romney's VP pick pretty much illustrates everything wrong with the party at this time.. Romney was already having trouble snagging moderates, what does he decide to do? Choose one of the most conservative men in office..

I recently read that the GOP is trying to keep Ron Paul away from the convention since he got his delegates in 5 states. If Ron manages to squeeze some good stuff out during his 15 minutes of speaking, I think we could see him become the Republican nominee. THAT choice makes it much less obvious who to vote for. Ron Paul knows the constitution better than the two goons running for president... Ron Paul 2012????

Of course. Obama will not be able to galvanize the blacks like he did in 08. Additionally, Obama's support of pseudo marriage is unpopular among blacks as well as other minority groups, like hispanics and Muslims. Couple this with the current state of the economy and the fact that Congress has a Republican majority, I'd say it's looking pretty good for Romney.

Mostly everyone was surprised by that one. And out of all the people Justice Roberts.... But I am fairly confident that Romney will win. I am willing to put my GS account on the line and bet on it.
