It has been almost 8 years since we first sent troops into Afghanistan. I think it has been an utter disaster.. If you were Osama Bin Laden I highly doubt that you would linger in an area filled with US and Afghani Troops. I have lost quite a lot of hope when it comes to finding him. I think it is funny that we are still in Afghanistan looking for Osama Bin Laden after 7 years. Didn't they find two of his lieutenants in the Philipines last year? a nation of some 500 small islands? I just think it is ridiculous that we can't find one man after 7 years.. I thought that the US with all its rescources and expertise could locate him by know. I think it is only a matter of time before we get attacked by Al-Qaeda again..

It all started because of these so called WMD's. USA didn't find any, but took over the oil in the region. Than they went to Iraq which was pointless. Part of the reason America invaded Iraq and Afghanistan was for oil. I think Americas military is going to be shot down one day.

My main point is that America could of had more concrete proof before invading.

EDIT: I sorta went off topic. I think the war is a complete disaster.

No. We send our army demoralized half way around the world in sand and scorching heat. Sadam is dead, Bin laden is still at large. There will always be terrorism and the true terrorist on in our own nation.

I don't like the term "war on terror" or the way the United States has gone about finding those responsible for 9/11. I don't think Afghanistan should have been invaded because of an organization that was there, especially since the Taliban were going to give him up to us but happened to say so after the so called "deadline". Iraq shouldn't have been invaded either of course. I'm not someone who is for toppling countries governments. You don't need to topple a government and occupy a country to go after an organization. So yeah, I thinks it's been a disaster.

It's pointless now. I full supported going after Osama bin Laden. The chances of him being in Afghanistan are pretty slim. Plus, he might even be dead anyway. The guy has always had health problems.

"Utter distaster" is going a bit far. A measure of success has been achieved in both countries, Iraq and Afganistan, and the failure to capture bin Laden is mostly a blow to morale.

It'd be nice if we could keep the Taliban out, if we can then I'd say Afghanistan was a success. At least with Iraq, for the almost uncanny amount of screw-ups I suppose we did get rid of Saddam Hussein.

problem is that Al-Qaeda aint a threat I mean seriously why does America claim everything to be a threat? the only threat I see is america, thats all. they are killing innocent everywhere in the name of "War on Terror", look at Pakistan now, that country will be worse then Iraq if PK's government keep their head up in Americas butt on "War on Terror". If America backs out today then terrorists wont do nothing but problem is America dont wanna back out. I honestly dont see what Americas problem is

The US started on the right track with Afghanistan, but then made the absolutely moronic decision to go after Iraq...

And now we're stuck.

We should've just kept our resources focused on Afghanistan, doing better to stop the Taliban and capture Bin Laden. But for whatever stupid reason, Bush decided to ignore that after going halfway. >_>

[QUOTE="Sajo7"]Al-Qaeda. Ever since 9/11 people treat them like a major threat. I mean thats the whole idea of terrorism, spreading terror.

mingo123

problem is that Al-Qaeda aint a threat I mean seriously why does America claim everything to be a threat? the only threat I see is america, thats all. they are killing innocent everywhere in the name of "War on Terror", look at Pakistan now, that country will be worse then Iraq if PK's government keep their head up in Americas butt on "War on Terror". If America backs out today then terrorists wont do nothing but problem is America dont wanna back out. I honestly dont see what Americas problem is

I think you misunderstood me. I don't see Al-Qaeda as a major threat. I mean we should keep tabs on them, but it's not like they're a threat to National Security.

The entire military? :o
But seriously, yeah, although I love this country, the terrorists have essentially won.

They do not just attack American soil. They bombed the embassy's in Africa in 1998 killing over 100 people. They bombed the USS Cole back in 2000. They are linked to the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. Bin Laden and his men also trained people in Somalia how to fight America when we came to give relief to the people. Al-Qaeda's mission is not just to attack us here at home, but our citizens and allies around the world.

10 years ago they bombed an embassay, 8 years since USS cole got attacked. world trade centre boming in 1993 maybe he was involved, but this stuff has been done ages ago. also what would bin laden get from traning somalia howto fight americans :|. How many citizens have al-qaeda attacked since past few years none, and then one looks at the peaceful America bombing us, they dropped bombs in Pakistan killing innocent people

They were just linked to the London bombings in 2005 or 06 killing all those citizens in the subways, bombing nightclubs throughout the Middle East, and there was the failed plot to hijack planes in Europe and blow them up over the Atlantic Ocean back in 2006. You also had the kidnapping and beheading of Daniel Pearl a couple of years. If you think that they still do not want to kill us, you are kidding yourself.

first of all i dont even believe Al-Qaeda was even involved in those bominbs, smells more of an inside job to me

The main leader behind that bombing was trained by Al-Qaeda, sorry to tell ya.
