humans love to fight....why?

I wonder how many humans think war Video games are a form of soldier recruitment. Could these war video games brain wash the human mind into becoming more aggressive, do they give you an adrenaline rush and the feelings of a soldier looking for the opportunity to shoot the bad guy? I know there are countless young men and women in the world's military, most are loyal and very patriotic to their subordinates; inspired from countless tales and films of heroism....their orders are carry out with thoughts of decisiveness but hearts of bitterness. Why is it until the human is on the battlefield questioning themselves "Is this really necessary?" uneasy souls...hmm

It's sad that war is such a profitable dependant in human economics.

If you are gonna let a VIDEO game sway your mind set on one of the most important decisions in your life, then you have more things to worry about then that.

I say that only utterly weak-minded individuals would be brainwashed in any way by video games.

Most want glory. Want to be called heroes. Think it's cool to kill people. And then there are the patriots...far and few in between, unfortunately.

If you are such a tool that you sign up just because you love playing COD4 and think you're uber leet at war, then you probably deserve to be shot...

Yes, I think they do whether it's on a conscious level or not. There are some diehard FPS fankids at my school and each one claims that they're going to join the military (or different branches of it). I thought at first, "hey maybe that's why they play all these war games/FPS" but upon realizing that they had just recently made the decision and been playing those games since they were young, I figured it was the games that influenced them somehow.

I have no intention of joining the army. For one thing, if you're a noob in the army, you will die within five minutes. NO RESPAWNS. For another, battles don't last 30 minutes, the last for days. Also, getting shot most likely hurts.

I do believe that people join the army because of video games, and it's quite sad.

You know, most of those kids are probably horrible shots, and complain about the lack of auto-aim at shooting ranges. :P

He iz winnar

There's games made for no other reason then to help convince people to join the military.

It's not even a question of "do you think" it's fact, it's been done before and it will keep on being done.

Yeah, I've fired some .22s and a 9mm, and a 20 gauge, and, well, you feel the shotgun the next morning, and mashing a handgun's trigger is a good way break your wrist, or shoot yourself from the recoil.

Yeah, I've fired some .22s, a 9mm, a .30 and 12-20-28 gauge shotguns. After 150 shots my shoulder couldn't take anymore. The pistol recoil has always freaked me out too, I always feel like I'm going to shoot myself.

I don't think the US army would have spent millions developing a game and then giving it away for free to teenagers if it didn't help recruitment.

Kinda lame.

The 9mm isn't bad, it just if your not ready it will suprise you, and the shotgun I fired weighed like, 1 pound.

Yes and no. More often yes than no. What they see play and enjoy is a glorified alternative to reality. While it is exaggerated and ridiculous they're young they don't know any better. They're gonna be heroic superstars just like they were in Counter-Strike... after they died like 6,000 times.

They're gonna rappel off of a rope with rock music then as they hit the ground they will dive in slow motion dodging incoming fire from a machine-gun in slow motion as the whammy bar holds a high twang to signify the awsomeness of their uncanny maneuvers.

AS a personal opinion I believe that buying into this argument simply leads to having to concede that video games influence people to do other things. I like to think the majority of gamers (as often represented by some very intelligent GS users) know where the line between reality and pixellation occurs.

That said, there are the minority that are swayed by something like Medal of Honor or Company of Heroes, and believe every person can make it in the service... Mind you, Mario probably convinced these muppets to eat mushrooms and stomp turtles...

I highly doubt it. In fact, it'd be interesting to see how many joined the army with video games as a main hobby of theirs.

I should think it'd be the same ratio as number of kids who take up professional sports because of a game.

Yeah, they would be like. OMG, quit camping, camping is for newbs. Let's rush em. Then they would run around until someone shoots them or until they trip a booby trap. They're the guys that get others killed with their stupidity. No stalking skills nor survival skills. You either hunt or be hunted. That's just the way it works. If you're stupid enough to run around out in the open or travel through expected routes you will be ambushed. Your brain really is your best weapon best tool and best chance of survival. Avoiding a firefight is better than participating in one. So you're either gonna outwit them or they are gonna outwit you.

Plus the fact that anybody could just open fire on you at anytime means you could be sniped at anytime. But I guess people don't realize that.

I was definitely swayed by military books, usually memoirs and first hand accounts. They definitely have at least a small role in my joining. I can't say that a video game had anything to do with it though.

I don't think they do. Most people I know who play war video games would never join the military, and the people I know who do want to join the military have wanted to since a younger age, usually influenced by a relative. Of course, I bet some people are influenced, but I don't think many are.

No I don't think it does. And anyway, just because someone is good at COD4 doesn't mean he'd be a good soldier at all. I know people that are better than me at COD4 (I'm just alright cuz I don't take it too serious), but if we were in a real war, I'd be a hell of a lot better soldier.
